Are you allowed to bring in the CX-2 (electronic flight computer calculator) into a TC examination for the AIRAF?

Yes. But they might make you take the batteries out and put them back in again.

Weirdly I wasn't allowed to take the plastic lid in though, nor my sunglasses. But I wasn't asked to strip naked and submit to anal probing, either, so one must be grateful for mercies.

Having said all that, I don't recall any questions where the CX-2 was the slightest bit of use.

You're thinking of the PRM "interview".

A regular calculator will suffice (or do a little mental math). Pretty easy exam. Calculate angle of bank in a rate one turn given a TAS, calculate maneuvering speed, the rest all knowledge based questions, click click click you're done! No maps to maneuver on the table, no markers, no practical MET package.
