Float businesses for sale?

Post by tractor747 »

Looking to see if anyone knows floatplane operators looking to sell their business.
Also if they don't mind being relocated, I've talked to a couple of operators but wouldn't sell due to the relocation and I respect that. Too much hard work and important to their community.
Thanks

every float business in the country is for sale, its just a matter of making the right price offer to the current owner.

Why in the world would you buy an existing business with an (presumably) established customer base and relocate it? If you have a promising location in mind, why not start your own? Sure, they say you can't buy goodwill, but you sure can pay for it if you buy a business as opposed to just straight assets.

I'm guessing he wants an OC without having to do the heavy lifting to get it

Then just hire an aviation consultant to get an AOC rather than flushing the funds down the toilet for goodwill which won't be used if you leave the area of the business.

Getting a Day VFR single engine, two or three airplane AOC with contract supplied maintenance services and combined Chief Pilot / Ops Mgr role is pretty straightforward (well, for some of us anyway.)

My best advice is to stay away from anything to do with the Toronto office of TC if calendar time is a consideration. They are simply swamped by the amount of business to transact and the low number of people to do it.

Every float operation is for sale in Ontario for a reason. NO MONEY TO BE MADE!!! Derry Air is just one example. Take my advice, take $100k and go to Vegas. The pain will be over quicker!! At least you will have some fun while you flush the money away.

If you invested time everyweek on this AOC how long with the back and forth with TC will it take to acquire this and would dealing with the Hamilton, Ontario office be better?

Thanks for the advice

It difficult to say and I have found it depends on the PMI and POI you get. The easiest is hire a consultant who has done it a bunch of times- most likely it will go much faster.

I set up an FTU once, if I recall in 6 weeks. I had decent TC guys and I've done it before so it's pretty easy.

Give your self at least a year, maybe two. Depends how organized you are and what the staffing level at your local TC office is like.

I've heard rumours that Red Sucker Air in northern MB could be bought from the owner Eddie Cull. And as a bonus you'd be dealing with the Winnipeg office of TC which is reputedly somewhat easier to deal with than any office in Ontario. I even think the business still makes some money with it's Navajo and Beaver

Dear sir,
we have a 702 AOC (Aerial Work Survey) for sale. With all paper work to operate Cessna 206 on wheel or floats, and Turbine Bird Dog.
The AOC will include all the documents: Operation Manual, Maintenance Schedules, Training Program, Exams, Maintenance Control Manual etc. The Turbine Bird Dog is also for sale.

The 702 AOC allow for Aerial Sightseeing with passenger from point A to point A. To carry passenger from point A to point B, you will need to upgrade to 703 AOC , but it's a good start.

See:
http://www.tc.gc.ca/wwwdocs/Forms/26-04 ... -04_BO.pdf
To see all the work that could be accomplished under a 702 AOC.

Thank
