Hi,
I have enough time to write the atpl. Thinking of getting the pilot training atpl ground school course. Worth it? Or just read through the written test guide and give the exams.

Re: Pilot training atpl ground school
I have no knowledge of this or any other course. I read the material, did the aerocourse workbook, and did fine. Consider that each exam costs $105 to write, so even if you write each one twice, you are only out $210... How does this compare to the cost of the course?
Somebody also once pointed out that the generic dispatcher exam is free to write and covers a lot of the same material as the SAMRA. Depending how close you are to an exam centre, the travel time to the centre may factor into your costs as well.

Re: Pilot training atpl ground school
Hello,
I would definitely recommend the Aerocourse ATPL prep course. I'm not much of a self-studier so for that reason I decided to take the course and for me it was worth every cent. The course started on a Friday and went through the weekend and then I wrote both exams on the Monday. I was in and out with both exams passed in about 90 minutes. I had a job waiting for me once I had the exams written so the cost wasn't a deterrent. It wasn't cheap though. I think it was around $400 for the course, and about $200 for the hotel for the couple nights I was there. Plus the $210 for the exams. Still it was well worth it for me though.
Cheers,
Chax
