Vague job posting
I just saw this in the job ads forum

1000 hrs PIC
500 Multi Turbine
EFIS and FMS experience is a must.

I'm just thinking out loud here why a company would be so vague about a pilot position. No name of the company, no aircraft type, no salary (although nobody discloses hat anymore), even the e-mail to send your resume is a specifically created gmail account for this job. No name to address the cover letter and resume to either.
Is this normal for job ads or what? Ive never encountered such a vague job ad. Is the company scared of people lining up at it's doors with resumes? Is it a recruitment company? What's your guys' thoughts?
It's very opposite compared to some of those ads you see for recruitment in asia where they provide a lot of information about schedules, pay, location etc.

Re: Vague job posting
It's just typical corporate sillyness. Many private jet owners don't want anybody to know they have an airplane and the secrecy attitude tends to spread throughout the industry. It's actually pretty normal.
I certainly wouldn't send my resume to an unnamed person using a gmail account, but if you're looking for this kind of job there isn't much of a downside to applying.

Oh I see, I guess some corporations just want to be secret about it all. Not that I qualify for it, i was just curious what the motives could be.
Thanks
Thanks

It could also be malicious. That is somebody trying to suck people in to steal their identity or take money from them. If you are considering applying I would be cautious about how much information I supplied in the initial response. If the response contains any request for money to continue the application than run.

Sad but true. These days you have to be suspicious of everything and everyone. Having said that, years ago so called "head hunters" would try and find candidates for various positions so this "limited" type of job posting isn't too surprising.
Re: Vague job posting
Perhaps it is corporate silliness, but there are private companies and private owners that go through great lengths to keep their aircraft and their registrations private. There are lot of reasons for this… marketing, mergers, private venture meetings, ex-wives, mistresses… the list is long and wide! I fly in the corporate world and discretion is, and always will be, part of the job. There are many operators that don't want to be tracked on flight aware by anyone who wishes to see where they are at or where they are going. You can't blame private owners for not wanting the world to watch their every move. That being said, who knows what this operation is, but I would use to info provided to contact the chief pilot or the hiring staff to get further details on the position. If it is a legitimate company and you meet their requirements, I can't see them withholding details in a private email.
Keep in mind that the posting of jobs for corporate type gigs are fairly rare. They are usually filled through word of mouth or networked hires, and in some cases headhunters. You won't find many pay scales for private owner gigs, unless the aircraft is managed, and even then pay scales are not always followed. A lot of the time wages and benifits are negotiated during the hiring process (at least that has been my experience).

I fly because it releases my mind from the tyrony of petty things.
