Getting Hired
Hi guys,
I was just wandering if I can get some advise. I have been applying for a flying job for the last 10 months and have not received a single call. Is this normal? Maybe there is something wrong with my resume, I don't know. Any comment is appreciated! I have attached my resume bellow.
Thank you all for any advise.

I would suggest reading this over:

Good luck!
P.S. Showing your face and resume in person would do much more good than sending it over email. Unless the employer specifically requests not to be bothered.

I see nothing wrong with your resume, but it might be a good idea to remove your references if you post it online. Maybe they are keen on their privacy and don't want their phone number / email publicly visible.bobaviator wrote:Hi guys,

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Re: Getting Hired
Under languages you don't emphasize your English proficiency, while it's great that you have so many other languages that you speak they won't really be of value to most aviation companies in Canada.
So mention your English proficiency.
As a side note as you have been an instructor for a while some of your former students and fellow instructors must have gotten jobs in the 703 or 704 world maybe see if they can maybe get you in at their current employer. Aviation is all about networking. Good luck!

Welcome to Redneck Airlines. We might not get you there but we'll get you close!

Hi bobaviator,
Don't take this the wrong way but there's quite a bit wrong with your resume. It could very well be the reason why you're not getting calls. Also, before I point out the resume mistakes keep in mind that you have to be "at the right place at the right time" so to speak and applying for the jobs YOU have a good shot at based on your experience.
Ok, here we go:
1. Your resume is 2 pages long, that's a NO NO for somebody with your experience....... 1 PAGE ONLY!
2. Seeking a PC12 First Officer position......DELETE IMMEDIATELY.......You're seriously limiting your options right off the bat
3. Ratings and Certificates......It's all over the place if you know what I mean. This is how it should look:
Ratings and Licences:
-CPL and Written ATPL
-MULTI IFR
-Instructor Rating Class III
-DELETE the rest because either nobody cares or it is IMPLIED
4. Education......1 line ONLY, your top college. Delete the rest, nobody cares.
5. Work Experience
-Carpenter..................DELETE IMMEDIATELY, nobody cares, actually, it's hurting you
-Satellite Technician.....DELETE IMMEDIATELY, nobody cares, actually, it's hurting you
-Carpenter..................DELETE IMMEDIATELY, nobody cares, actually, it's hurting you
- QC and Production Test Pilot.........................Keep this, it's relevant and good for you.
Zlin Aviation a.s., Otrokovice, Czech Republic
6.Other Skills.......DELETE ALL unless you can fly a 747 single pilot........nobody cares, it's too long and everybody has basic computer skills and can say good morning in russian and polish.
7. Also, delete all "months" from your dates, dont need it.
8. Also, If you're going to include references you need 2!
Ok man, good luck in your adventures...

Re: Getting Hired
+1 for natural's reply. When I first opened your resume, the first thing my eyes say was PC12 FO position which automatically limits you right away.
The second this that shocked me was that an instructor with 2,500 hours + should have more than 20 hours MEL. In my opinion, that's dragging you down the most. You need to build more multi time! I'm not saying 500 hours + but a reasonable amount like 250 hours will bring you an incredible way. Operators love multi time.
lastly, get your ATPL signed off. You have the exams done, you have the total time.... WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? I'm sure as an instructor you have the PIC time to get it, however I'm starting to doubt you have the 75 hours of instrument time.
don't hate, just my $0.02
