Friendly reminder
Just a friendly reminder to everyone that there are other more appropriate freq. other than 126.7 to get your weather.
126.7 is busy enough as it is, let alone trying to get through to a conflicting aircraft but having to wait until joe blow gets 5 metars and 3 tafs.
It actually amazes me that Flight services still give out weather on 126.7. A lot of times they don't even tell people about alternate frequency's.
What ever the end result, please use some discresion out there.

I agree as well, however I found it very annoying, and this has happened a couple times, where I was right overhead, or very near an alternate frequency, called for weather, and FSS replied sternly "you know you can get weather on 126.7 all over ontario!", then directed me there for weather....you can't win!

I will try to use a discreet freq. when i can however most places up north do not have them or I am not high enough to reach them. Most times I will ask London on 26.7 if they have any descreet freq in the area that I do not know about. Or in the morn/even when 126.7 is not busy. If you do have to use 26.7 to get weather be quick, however i do not think it is the local guys getting the weather it is the big boys at FL360 going from A to B still 4 hours from destination and getting weather for JFK Montreal and Chicago and then taking 5 min to write it down when it should only take 2min. I just wish that they could open their brief case and get a map out to find out where the closest discreet freq is, I meen c'mon your at FL360 you could reach just about anywhere!

If you look in the CFS it has the alternate frequencies if they exist. Like in Thompson, you can use 123.15, same in Vancouver 123.15 is at the airport so it can be reached for most of the flights around the area. In Winnipeg there is 122.2 or something for WPG FSS, I think all large centers have the alternate freq for congestion purposes.

What are you doing on the MF getting wx? That is what 126.7 is for. What else do you do there?
I am serious. Mind you, I fly in BC between YVR (123.15 is great and is for wx) and points north in the lower flight levels. Just try using MF for weather (except like 123.15 in YVR or YXS where there are towers) and you're sent back to 126.7 where you belong, not tying up airport traffic advisories, which is what MF is all about. The MF is for traffic inbound, circuit and outbound not for overheads getting wx.

Pacific Radio on 123.15
Man does it make life easy. flying in the Greater vancouver area is nuts with radio activity. I can only imagine what TO must be like. Or LA! OHH MAN! and we have the boys in the north complaining about radio traffic
If only everyone would use the proper frequencies and we all had 4 radios! even then it'd never be enough.

Tower Dudette: in the unlikely event that you cruelly spurn Hazatude's offer of holy matrimony, will you marry me instead? Unlike Haza, I have a full head of hair and 14 teeth, which will hopefully make you overlook the club foot, chronic halitosis, permanent stutter and pathological nose-picking.

I would except that offer. However, I enjoy a woman's company. Sorry.
Back to the topic. I do agree that my employer Nav Canada seemed to cut back on services provided. However I do accept the odd request to provide weather info for those that pop up into my freq. In the likely event 126.7 is occupied with chatter from higher flight levels.
