Difference in pay between IFR and VFR -> ATC's
Hi there,
I was just curious about the difference in pay between both the IFR and VFR stream of Air Traffic Controllers. I saw the public disclosure of salary sheet, and it shows the different grids for positions AI-01 to AI-06. I have read somewhere that all IFR or Area Controllers are paid at the AI-06 level, but I have not heard where the VFR controllers fall on the scale.
Also, if anyone has any idea as to how one progresses from AI-O1 onwards, or within their own classification group, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Dangles

Re: Difference in pay between IFR and VFR -> ATC's
VFR controllers are paid from ATC-1 to ATC-6 depending on what unit they work at. And that determination is based on how busy and/or complex of a unit you are at. For example, Whitehorse, Fort McMurray, Prince George are ATC-1, Regina, Yellowknife are ATC-2, Springbank, Winnipeg, are ATC-3, Ottawa, Victoria are ATC-4, there are currently no ATC-5 units, Calgary, Montreal, Vancouver are 6's. Hope those examples help.

Re: Difference in pay between IFR and VFR -> ATC's
Is there somewhere we can find the full list of airport and their pay classification? I managed to find he collective agreement.
What is the difference between AI and ATC pay scale?
What is annual ATC Premium?
Thanks

You want to look at ATC pay scales. You can disregard the AI pay scales. That is the older one, but it still needs to be displayed as I guess some ex. controllers who are now management are still on the AI pay scale for some reason.Ataman wrote:Is there somewhere we can find the full list of airport and their pay classification? As for annual ATC premium, that is a premium we get above and beyond the ATC pay scale. You basically combine the two. Each facility has a different ATC premium.

Re: Difference in pay between IFR and VFR -> ATC's
Anyone happen to know what the Winnipeg FIR towers' ATC pay levels / premium levels are? From the previous post I would guess at:
Winnipeg - 3, premium level ?
Regina - 2
Saskatoon - 2
Thunder Bay - 2
St. Andrews - 1
Thanks

YQR : ATC 2, premium level 12
St. Andrews : ATC 1, premium level 11
YQT : ATC 2, premium level 11
Dont have the info for YXE, but the ATC premium is most likely 11 or 12, similar to YQR.
Also, for anyone interested in the top five ATC premium levels....
ATC premium level 1: Only YYZ ACC and YYZ TWR
ATC premium level 2: none
ATC premium level 3: Only YUL ACC and YUL TWR
ATC premium level 4: YVR, YQX and YEG ACCs, YVR and YYC TWRs
ATC premium level 5: YWG, YQM ACCs.

Re: Difference in pay between IFR and VFR -> ATC's
What are the different columns in the grid, years of service? Then the last column is where you cap out?
So, YYZ VFR/IFR would get ATC-7 and ATC Premium 1 combined?

Columns are for yearly increases. YYZ IFR/VFR is ATC-6 + Premium 1. ATC-7 is for supervisors in those units.Globex wrote:What are the different columns in the grid, years of service? Then the last column is where you cap out?

Close, YEG ACC and YYC Tower are now ATCP 3 and YWG is ATCP 4 as a result of the grievance settlement.thenoflyzone wrote:
