Self Groundschool

I heard that you can log your 40 hours ground school requirement for your private at the comfort of your home. Is this true? I rather myself go to the local airprot and do the ground school there where other people have questions that you never thought of..

you sure can, but you still need your instructor to sign off those hours.

You can complete both the private and the commercial ground school by doing the 'self-study' program. However, it has to be supervised self-study. You're supposed to meet with a qualified instructor now and again and he is supposed to ask you questions and test your knowledge, then tell you what to study next.
I completed my Commercial groundschool this way. (only we by-passed the supervised part and they simply signed me off to write the exam)

I did the private using the self-study program,too.
It seemed to me like it was a lot more work than attending ground school lessons. However, that may have been because I had no prior experience. Heck, I may do my commercial the same way, its all about the monnneeeyyy
