King Air type ratings under POC

Post by Aeroplane17 »

G'day,

Curious question- if I want to fly a King Air 200 or 90 under a private operators certificate do I need a full ride with a TC inspector, type rating, etc. Say you get a full course/ sim in the states?

Thx.

As far as the 90 goes. I think all u need is a current Multi IFR. For the 200 me believe you need a type rating

Depends on the 200, some are high performance, some aren't. In any case, you wouldn't need a formal ride by a TC approved check pilot. Just train to standard (aircraft or sim) and submit the paperwork to CBAA. The chief pilot for the POC will know what to do.

CAR 400.01(1):
"high-performance aeroplane", with respect to a rating, means

(a) an aeroplane that is specified in the minimum flight crew document as requiring only one pilot and that has a maximum speed (Vne) of 250 KIAS or greater or a stall speed (Vso) of 80 KIAS or greater
The procedure for getting a single-pilot
"high performance" type rating on your
licence is very straightforward and simple.
