Rumour is the first 4 will be either 67 or the 330. A lot more newer 330's around. Personally, I'd like to see them strike a deal with Boeing to lease some of their test 787's (which apparently Boeing has kicking around) in the interim before they go ahead and firm up an order for the permanent type, which hopefully will be the 787. Makes most sense in terms of maintenance, training and paper work when they finish their dry lease.

From the press release:

"WestJet Airlines Ltd. (TSX:WJA) today announced that it is moving forward with plans that would see the airline fly it's own wide-body aircraft as early as fall 2015."

So the answer is "WestJet Airlines Ltd.", commonly known as "WestJet".

There is 2 classes of WJ pilots on that list. Adding a third is almost a given.if they went for status you think they'll include encore in sharing the increased wages

Interesting. Canada's two major airlines are becoming more similar every day. Similar issues will likely ensue, followed by the start-up of Canada's newest LCC, soon followed by the merger of Canada's two legacy carriers as they both feel the pain. I didn't expect history to repeat itself so quickly! 737 max's and 787 at both carriers will make the merger absolutely seamless. A quick dusting of Robin's Egg Blue and voila! There's still a bit of catching up to do though, as ACPA has easily five classes of pilot. :?

The fledgling WJ sheds the last vestiges of it's Southwest shell to become, wait for it, another Air Canada!

DP, pilot fourth class.

I was going to say exactly the same thing.

Ooohhh...interesting thought. I doubt it. They missed the opportunity to increase WAWCON when the compensation review went through. Seemed that despite low recruiting numbers, they were ok holding onto industry -10% policy. The big question for me is whether they will lowball the wide body salaries and use the same justification - it's an experiment and we need to keep costs in check to remain competitive.

The scale is exclusive to the widebody, and is higher than the NG.
No status pay.

That would be a long wait. There is a big backlog of airlines waiting delivery.

Boeing 787 orders and deliveries by type
Total orders/ Total deliveries
787-8 486/ 161
787-9 413/ 1
787-10 132/ –
Total 1,031/ 162

On 9 November 2005, Air Canada agreed to renew their widebody fleet by purchasing 16 Boeing 777s (10 -300ERs, 6 -200LRs), and 14 Boeing 787-8s. They placed options on 18 Boeing 777s and 46 Boeing 787-8s and -9s.

Took Air Canada almost 9 years from ordering to receiving. Unless Westjet buys someone else's slots there would be no 787s on the property until 2023ish.

ALAFCO, ALC, Aviation Capital Group, CIT, GECAS, ILFC, all aircraft leasing companies, have a combined order sheet of 152 B787s.

They are not buying B787s to park them. Do you know who their customers are ?
