Picking a flight school in Quebec/Ottawa/Manitoba
Hi there,
I am 23 living in Quebec moved here from germany a year ago or so and now looking into getting my PPL and CPL etc. Now I first wanted to go the college route but I don't think I will be able to afford it.
So I am going to go directly to a flight school and perhaps in the future i can get a degree if need be.
Now a few questions I have picked out a few schools that do look good but I was wondering if anyone could perhaps recommend some schools in Quebec or maybe even Ottawa or Manitoba.
Now a few of the schools i looked at have Charter company's and they claim they only hire from their flight school grads. With most of these it will cost me around 30k + tax to get everything done. And the price seems to be about the same in general with the odd school costing around the 25k range.
Anyway here are the schools in looking at:
http://www.devenirpilote.com
http://www.cargair.com
http://www.laurentideaviation.com
http://www.proaviation.net
I don't currently have a car so thats something to keep in mind. Now the two I was really looking at is ProAviation (claim to be the best in Canada) and Cargair. (Cargair seems a lot smaller but have a charter company and the staff seems experianced)
Any help would really be appreciated especially if you perhaps made contact witht hese school in the past.

I can point you in the direction of some flight schools in Ottawa. However I will shy away from saying much about them since my opnion is somewhat biased.
Ottawa Flying Club
http://www.ofc.ca/
Ottawa Aviation Services
http://www.ottawaflighttraining.com/
Rockcliffe Flying Club
http://www.rfc.ca/
Westair (Carp)
http://www.westair-aviation.com/
Aviation 5-50 (Gatineau)
No actual website that I know of, but some info on the school: http://www.egoairport.ca/english/ecole_ ... efault.asp

Thanks let me look into those as well.
Do we have any pilots from Quebec on these boards? Im sure some of them must have some knowledge of the quality of flightschools in the Montreal area.
I have relatives that live in Embrum (outside Ottawa) from what i hear there is also a flightschool in that area but i wasn't able to find any information on them.
As for being biased, I guess you work for one of those flightschools

Hello there,
I started my flight training at The Ottawa Flying Club. Half-way through my training towards the private pilot license I discovered Ottawa Aviation Services (right next door to OFC) and stuck with them. They took me through the end of my PPL right through to my Commercial Pilot License, Flight Instructors Rating and Instrument Rating. I now work with them as a flight instructor. Here are a few reasons why I switched: awesome school, great staff , friendly atmosphere not to mention wicked airplanes. There's just something about flying a newer aircraft for cheaper than most 15 year old Cessna 150's...
OAS gets my vote!

Harv's Air in Steinbach, MB just opened a new base in st. andrews airport just to the north of winnipeg call Canadian Aviation Centre. They have a college program with Red River, cheap living and a really good college and flight school with a bunch of different aircraft. check them out.
