Wonder how long it will take until the TFWs show up.

Well I've applied twice in response to the two previous postings and haven't received acknowledgment of, let alone a PFO, ever. Guessing my CV with 9000hrs and a season on 737-8 doesn't make the cut.
Too Canadian maybe.

Sunwing is applying for 120 TFW pilots this winter. This is where you complain. The complaint process is under Tab 3

If you are qualified under their ad and are overlooked in favor of TFW pilots, you can and should file a complaint.

Sunwing is only allowed to hire TFW pilots if they cannot find a qualified Canadian applicant.

My belief is that they have a deal with the European suppliers of of the aircraft to hire a certain number of Euriopean pilots as a condition for getting the aircraft.

They will claim that they have a reciprocal agreement with the Europeans and that because they sent a number of Canadian pilots to Europe this summer, they are commited to import a certain number of foreign pilots in exchange but that is all smoke.

They send 4 wet leases to Europe and are also Wet-Leasing 4 or 5 aircraft from Europe. The wet-lease exchanges alone fulfills any reciprocal deal they may have with the Europeans.

The 120 TFW they are importing are all above and beyond the number of Canadian pilots they sent to Europe.

Good luck

Gilles

How many Europeans have Transport Canada licences? I know it's not so easy to convert to JAA. Shouldn't that disqualify Temporary Foreign Workers as it is?

There are quite a few UK pilots who did their TC licences going back as far as 2003, but not that many out of those coming over these days, because the stats I get from ESDC on TFW applications closely match the FLVC applications to TC.

So there are probably still a few with Canadian licences coming over (I was in contact with at least one), but not many.

I didn't quite understand your "disqualify comment".

My take is that the Europeans do not allow Canadian licensed pilots pilots to fly European registered aircraft on FLVC. Why should TC extend that courtesy to the Europeans here ?
