Start here.
https://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/ ... 0-5814.htm
I'm not sure where to find the cars but AIM is online here.
https://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/ ... u-3092.htm
According to this,
https://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/ ... n-1234.htm The test is 20 questions (30 less than the PSTAR) and you will have one hour.
Studying by yourself can be a bummer.

No worries. Sorry I'm not more helpful.
I have heard mostly good things about Harv's but never personally tried them.
It should not be too bad at 20 questions but I know how the simple PSTAR can be a bitch. Even with the practice exams I found it tough to study. Partially because a few of the answers are worded funny in my opinion and partially because it was tough to memorize the NORDO lights.

You don't need to read through the CARs (though that can't hurt), you need to study the AIM. Specifically the RAC section.
