Air Serv International
Wondering if anyone has any experience with Air Serv International that they would like to post about? I'm interested in working for them, not to biuld time, I already have a flying job. I think it could be some awesome experience flying around the world and a chance to give back. Do they only take FAA CPL/ATR? If so how hard is it to convert from canadian CPL to FAA?
They had two airplanes down in Haiti for a couple weeks when I was down there. I believe they want FAR 135 mins, possibly with an ATPL or written completed. They have King Air 200's, 90's a Beech 18, and possibly some more aircraft.
You may have better luck posting your question here. http://forums.flightinfo.com If you search through the forums there is also some information on AirServ there somewhere.
Best of luck with things.
Bye bye.

JUGGS-A waypoint in Idaho too!
Air Serv is a relief organization or NGO. What they do is provide other NGO's with aircraft when required. ((ACMI )Aircraft Crew Maintenance Insurance)
I first incountered Air Serv in the early 90's and at the time they received their funding from religious organizations.
Over the years they have grown and I believe receive funding from non-religious sources and have morfed into what they are today.
My guess is about 40 A/C world wide - Vans and King Airs, some twin otters located in all the troubled areas.
PM me if you want more info.

Hi Merlin,
Just sent your resume and see what happen. I work for Air Serv in Afghanistan for the last 9 months and I like it. I would say it's my kind of job, I have a back ground of a bush pilot on the west Coast and in other place in the world before and it realy fits me.
You know getting the FAA licence is not that hard. The best way to do it I think, is to get your FAA ATP, that is if you have your CND ATP. You'll just have to pass one writen exam and one flight test, which I think is the hardest to get. I think it would cost you about 2000 usd to get the training done with the flight test.
But like I told you just send your resume and see what happen. I had my FAA licence but I still had to go to South Africa to get a south African validation to be able to fly on there planes. Because they are rainting most of there planes out of SA, so you will need a SA validation and they will pay for it.
And one last thing is don't go work for Air Serv and think you will save the world, because there is way to much to save and you wont be able to save it all. You have to do it because you like the kind of flying or for some other raison.
Hope this helps.

If you really want to do missionary flying and are willing to make a committment, then I would also recommend you look into Mission Aviation Fellowship of Canada (http://www.mafc.org). They seem to have a bunch of nice and committed people there. They have a 4 year committment, and you will also need to do some fundraising before you start flying. But if this is what you want to do, then by all means go for it!
Good luck!
