Re: Canadian Jetlines five Boeing 737 MAX 7's
Airspeed250: Surely you can't be serious (!) If you think that's a decent wage for that type of work, then do us all a favour and stay away from the business…it's not enough by a TON! More is always better of course, ( try to think like a pilot who works for a living here please…) and a future is wh...

How about ice or water (or any other) contamination? That would make the dual flameout seem plausible, and that would explain the problem.

To which counterparts are you referring to? If, by chance, you refer to Emirates, in the race to the "who has a better Business or First Class" there isn't much in it! EK is falling fast and the employee groups are getting close to exhaustion due to a very busy roster. Whole bunches of cabin crew fl...

Re: College of pilots
What Diadem said! Finally it makes some sense to me, so a thank you for that! After 30 years in Canadian aviation and another 10 offshore, I thought it would be a great idea when the first bit of thinking surfaced about a "College." The understanding of what this college would do and how they would ...

Re: Etihad to hire up to 600 pilots in the next three years
800…including a large number of Direct Entry Captains…777…787…380…320 and possibly some 747-800 freighters…about 120 pilots from Alitalia rumoured to be included in that number (part of the purchase deal made) The training department will certainly have their hands full with those numbers. The websi...

Re: JetBlue blows an engine...PAX all think they're gonna di
JIB, Just a small point…yes we may all be, from time to time, a little complacent at work. The battle has been ongoing for years to combat that very thing. Is it not almost always true that in situations like these, (JB) our training is said to take over? There are dozens of interviews out there all...

Re: JetBlue blows an engine...PAX all think they're gonna di
Dear Jack, Partially true, but in your example it has to be obvious to the cabin crew that they need to initiate. Uncontrollable fire, fuselage break up, no response or command from the flight deck after an overrun or rejected takeoff being a few of the most imperative. Asiana is the perfect example...

Re: JetBlue blows an engine...PAX all think they're gonna di
OK, so now that the media has been supplied with more fodder and the boys up front did actually call for a Evac, it does change the picture somewhat. At the risk, however slight, that we are arm chairing this a bit, I would caution that any evacuation must be thought all the way through carefully, a...

Re: JetBlue blows an engine...PAX all think they're gonna di
You beat me to it…seems that there might not be much communication between the two parties. I wonder If JB has any sort of a decision making model they use in situations like this? FORDEC or NITES and the like. To shout brace in this kind of situation is a little overboard. Maybe the JB cabin crew d...

Re: JetBlue blows an engine...PAX all think they're gonna di
So now we have JB passengers opening emergency exits on their own and evacuating without any command? I wonder if the engine was still running? My good friend who works for JB said that the Cabin Crew feel they are in command of the passenger cabin and have blown slides after a return for a problem ...

Re: Unreported event, and hidden damage
No pilot worth his/her salt needs to treat any aircraft so poorly that they risk damage. Period. Even if you're late and trying to catch up… It's just wrong and shows p*ss poor judgement.

Re: Question for ex Skyservice, Canada 3000 and Zoom pilots
What he said…but I seem to recall we were allowed to use TC duty regs for a while, so some got the sh*tty end of the stick and flew long nights when the UK boys n girls were safe and warm in the pub. That changed I think after a year or so, and the wet leases became quite nice flying! The Air 2000 a...

Re: Switching Seats
Ilya, Although you might just possibly be trying to make it sound easy about what is required for a right seat check, I'm pretty sure there's a little more to it than just a circuit. Where I work we are all RHS qualified (We don't have any FO's due to the type of work we do.) The criteria is a minim...
