Re: SnowBirds,Blue Angels,ThunderBirds. Comparable?
I am unfortuanatly in the same boat with muskeg. I was involved with planning an airshow a few years back. I now have a less than positive view of the Snowbirds. I have not had the opportunity to work with the other teams but I would hope they are as polite as the other members of the US airforce I ...

Re: Life insurance : advice?
Slight sidetrack here. Have a look at any insurance policy you have, credit cards line of credit and mortgauge. Most of them will disqualify you if you have anything to do with airplanes. One of mine actually said that a condition resulting directly or indirectly from acting as a flight crew member ...

Re: Where to report Flight School violations
Airline pilots are required to submit to a government medical examination every 6 months (Captains) and 12 months as First Officers. Year after year. Fail that, and their career is over. . Say what? It's age that dictates if you do a medical every 6 or 12 months, regardless of your position. FAA re...

Re: Passengers don't need screening on some airlines?
We used to do a sched from a non secure airport to CYYC main terminal. The Pax were deplaned and the taken under escort with their bags through a side gate and then back through the terminal to the agents desk or for screening to connect to other carriers. The pax or their bags never actually entere...

Re: Small aerodrome services and operations
Ever hit a tie down ring with your snow plow? Or have the boss's kid mow your tie down cable? Aircraft damage (cable lash) and equpiment (plow and mower) are reasons there are no public tiedowns in a lot of places. It is a bussiness and if it generates costs rather than income it's gone. Just my 2 c...

As with most Government contracts it is almost impossible to unseat the incumbent. Unless the vendor has failed to provide the service. Governments like things that are consistant and familiar.

Re: Scotia Visa Balance Protector insurance
I am usually fairly careful about this since I fly for a living.
But I missed this one.
Just wanted to point it out in case anyone though they might be covered for anything if they cary this coverage.
Better to check now and not find out when you need it!

Scotia Visa Balance Protector insurance

That site is the authors opinion and not related to the actual government. Seriously if we were going to go ahead with a made in Canada replacment for the aurora why not use the maritime patrol dash 8 that Field has been delivering to the Japanese and Autrailaians. It seems like I proven product ver...

The clip is from a BBC special called James May on the Moon and a second film called James may on the Edge of space.
Two very good films.
He is a presenter on a program called Top Gear also on the beeb. He has his PPL and a champ with the registration G-OCOK.
You can get both films on mininova.

Re: Best headset for flight training??
I have always worn headsets right from day one. I was one of the people who thought I'll get the noise canceling when I get out of the little machines. Problem is that you will fly the noisest airplanes when you first start out. As you progress thet planes get quieter in my experience. Protect your ...

Re: Insurance on student owned plane used for flight training.
Yes Instructors in Canada rarely carry liability insurance. In the states it is part of your benifit package from your FTU. After having an experience with a training related accident I will say I am glad I wasn't freelancing at the time. The money for freelancing is generally better than at the FTU...

Back to the original post. The BBC has changed it to read that he has sold one of his major assets. Since he owns other teams which are in america it was probably just an error. Why proof reading did catch it, who knows.

Re: King Air 200 Question?
The bigger point that no one has mentioned is contractual obligations. If the contract says atpl, Then it is an atpl required. It doesn't matter what the cars say if your company has agreed to provide an atpl licenced pilot. That assumes they want to keep their contract.

Re: Wanted: FAA Commercial Coversion Study Guides
Remember we have a licencing agrement with the FAA now. All you need for a conversion is to get the appropriate medical, complete the licence verification form, and complete the TCCA to FAA conversion exam. Gliem has an online course specificaly for this. Then it is a trip to the local FSDO and have...

To maintain runway centre line as you climb out on departure you certianly need to crab as soon as you leave the ground. Just like the others have said anticipate and make the correction before you pass the departure end. I like to keep the wings level and allow the ship to weather cock, But a shall...

Your best bet to find the truth is to contact the local TC office and ask to talk to a licencing officer and they will steer you straight. Then remember to get their response in writing so that you have proof of what they told you to do. You don't have to rely on the school to talk to TC you can ask...

Contrary to the rumours being spread around Calgary the Bar XH Air flight school is NOT closing down. We took a few days off after our recent loss but we are still operating. We still have our newly refurbished C172, as well as the Turbo Arrow and the Baron. We are planning to replace the 172 that w...
