Re: Air Canada jazz pilots hours

I would have to agree. When I am in cruise and I just stare at the instruments, my brain isn't really registering anything. If i'm reading or doing a crossword, I look up and do periodic scans that are much more thorough.

What is the longest leg in the RJ?

Re: Air Canada jazz pilots hours

I was talking with a couple of RJ FOs the other day and they were telling me some of the horror stories of flying with some of the "Sky Gods"....4 hours to IAH, but don't you dare pull out a newspaper (or talk to me, in some What are the longest legs the dash and RJ do? Is it in the SOPs that you c...

Thanks for the info. Every page in my logbook has a spot for me to sign so I will just go with that. Hope it all works out.

Certified Logbook

I have an interview coming up and they asked me to bring my Certified Logbook. Does this mean my logbook has to be signed by every company I worked for? I don't get along with one of my previous employers and I don't think anyone from there will sign my book. Also, what if one of the companies had g...

Re: Who Rotates?

I thought that a company or organization might require that the pilots be given some time away from really small communities just to keep spirits up or something like that. Kind of like getting some time away from the fighting front in a war or something like that...and i'm not saying the two are th...

Who Rotates?

Hey guys and girls,

I'm trying to make a list of operators that rotate crews. Is there anyone left out there that will rotate you anywhere in Canada? Many companies offer to bring you to the closest "big city" but is anyone doing anywhere in Canada?

Thanks

Re: Current Role of Unions in Aviation - Thoughts & Experiences

The only thing I don't like about unions is the protection sub-par pilots get in some situations. I've heard of guys getting totally liquored up and failing sim rides and the union protects them. Or complete disregard of SOP with no action against them after several complaints. I also don't like it ...

BTD, Would those requirements be for a 703 operator as well? I ask because all Carson Air metros fall under 703.

Re: Incident in YXT

to me a shotgun upgrade means you knocked up someones daughter and got upgraded to married. I would call that a shotgun wedding. What I meant by shotgun upgrade was what Brown bear said, you show up and someone tells you your the captain now. Its nice to have had a few months as an FO in the left s...

Re: Incident in YXT

The "flaw" in the Metro steering system is when you arm the nws above a slow taxi speed. It has been known to fail to full scale deflection and at a higher speed you don't have time to react. I've done hundreds of take-offs and landing in the metro and never had an issue. Unless there was a very str...

Re: Incident in YXT

I flew metro's for years and never came across a tiller. There are 2's with tillers but it is rare. Most metro's control the NWS through the rudder pedals. I also know that Carson Air gives left seat rides to FO's that are coming close to an upgrade. That way they can fly from the left seat under th...

Re: FA's getting sued by FO over... safety?

How about the airline not covering the legal expenses for the FA's. It doesn't matter if the de-ice ended up being CYA. They spoke up in the name of saftey and now they're being punished for it. I highly doubt a group of FA's with that much experience would've made that much effort to get de-iced if...
