Re: Reserve out of base
This is just one more straw on the camels back. I know a bunch of guys who have employment offers in hand, just waiting to give their notice and I also know of at least one pilot with no where to go, who quit on the spot over Christmas. It’s not looking so good at the moment.

A pay raise is needed immediately to help with retention, but but would top pay be enough to compensate for the risk?

Re: Do you think Flair is a stable career choice?
Home every night is also a thing of the past (especially for new hires). Some of the most senior pilots can hold the out-and-back flights but every month there are more red eyes and more multi-day pairings. The bottom half of the roster is not very nice at all….and there is not a lot of growth plann...

Re: North Cariboo Air
It is impossible if you only have right seat time. But if you come with some good PIC, you should be able to see the left seat. For upgrades from ramp, the last position for right seat King Air was 600 TT 200 Multi. So the ramp position isn't likely to work out very well if you don't already have so...

Re: A word of warning...
Same with North Cariboo. All of the new jobs are contrails plus, and unless you have a ton of MPIC you will never get upgraded. Another place that guys use to be able to work from the ramp up, but King Air FO's are now required to have 450TT and 200 Multi. Its getting pretty hard for a new pilot to ...

Re: 1500 hrs plus
I'm just under the 1500 mark, and I've turned down a few opportunities in the last short while. I have a family at home and staying close to and having time at home is more of a priority to me. Although a do have a flying job at the moment. On a side note regarding a second career. I gave my second ...

Re: Sky Dive Pay
I flew a 206 part time and I made $12/flight hour with a daily minimum of $48/day. I knew that I was at least paying for my fuel every time I drove to the drop zone. I also had a trailer (provided) to stay in every weekend, so that I didn't have to drive back and forth.

703 Flight to the US
I am just wondering if anyone has a checklist or any advise for travel to the US. I am the new go to guy for a newer 702/703 operator and we have recently received a request to fly to the States. We are approved for International travel, but I would like to build a detailed checklist for the crews (...

There is still an over supply of 200 hour wonders out there, as good as the industry (temporarily) is, Unless you have 500 hours and a current MIFR I probablly won't start packing my bags yet. I got into aviation because I loved to fly, I got out of it because I was tired of working for illegal wages and being treated like dirt. I invested 72,000 into aviation and tried for 5 years--hoping that it would get better, but it never did. Now I'm making more than that in the oil and gas industr...
