Re: WestJet Pilots and Flight Attendants Race to Unionize
Regardless of who set this up it's ignorant and arrogant to state your t4 earnings publicly like that. Especially when you're among the minority earning those numbers and a lot of people at your company have a tough time making ends meet.

Re: WestJet Pilots and Flight Attendants Race to Unionize
I absolutely agree. But it's sad someone would be used like a puppet this way and submarine their peers and future generations by making idiotic comments like his... unless of course this is a fake name in the article. I can't see that though. Just an assclown in all likelihood but it only takes one...

Re: WestJet Pilots and Flight Attendants Race to Unionize
It's great hearing someone completely out of touch with reality brag about their wage. I'm sure office workers working Monday to Friday at WJ will love to hear what he makes and how little he works. Public will also find it amusing and think we're all rich in the starbucks line at the terminal. Then...

Re: SKY RÉGIONAL HIRING
Sweet, jobs at sky regional! The company that lowered the bar for all pilots in Canada and forced current jazz pilots to accept an agreement that sewered everyone not on the property and made fantasy island pilots the highest paid q 4 drivers going forward. Where does one apply?!?!?!

Re: Encore gets one list and a new pay scale.
Wouldn't it make sense to have an encore person locked in on the mainline seniority list when they upgrade to captain? Seems weird to hire direct entries because lower time people can't upgrade and then those captains slide below people theyre essentially teaching. Also, I'm guessing mainline doesn'...
Re: Why?
Why don't they just match porter's pay scale if they want some decent experienced people? That pay scale isn't the greatest but closer to what is fair. If porter can afford it then I think a company with real jets and 1.4 bil in cash can at least do the same...

Re: Encore's Pay and Work Conditions
Just out of curiosity but what is the quality of FO's being hired to Encore? Of course there is no shortage of 'qualified' people applying (1500 hours isn't a lot) but are they getting people with decent command experience on a dash or equivalent or is it a lot of career fo's from 1900s, metros, kin...

Re: WJE Flow through
This is quite a predicament for people with over 5000 hours and left seat time on the q4 who had aspirations of joining westjet. Seems like that would put you in the conversation for mainline but now you'd have to go right seat for half your current pay (if not more) and get in the queue. If there w...

Re: Hiring Age
If I were 40 I'd probably shoot for porter over jazz, upgrade time is around 2-3 years and if this c series thing happens that could sweeten the pot even more. Lots of mid 40 guys have done quite well there. encore pay looks suspect but over the time I'd imagine it would take to go captain at jazz y...

Re: Hiring link
What is the deal with how encore flow through will work too? I keep hearing different things and haven't found a clear answer in any of the threads. Two main questions being: 1) System seniority? 2) Pay? if you move over after 3 years at encore do you start at 3rd year mainline pay or do you start a...

Re: Encore's Pay and Work Conditions
How is it set up for encore pilots who eventually go mainline? Do you get system seniority and then slide in at 37 pay commensurate with your years of service? If that's the case would it not be a pretty decent deal? If you went to AC isn't it 4 years of flat pay similar to these encore captain wage...

Re: 2012 Porter FO Reqt's?
An ATPL is a necessary requirement to be hired and you will not be offered a job until you have it. I'm not sure if they are even interviewing people without it. Internal references are huge and will get you to the interview table. Right now 3000 hours is the minimum but I believe you can still get ...

Re: Question for Porter folks
I was flying into YSB yesterday at 1200 local and the visibility was exactly 3/8 and rvr 1800. We have the ops spec and could make the approach but I had my doubts about this whole RVOP/LVOP stuff. I read through the cap gen and found it to be very poorly worded and up for a lot of different interpr...

Have to agree with Husky. It all boils down to supply and demand. Would you be willing to pay more for a Beatles CD at the local family owned music store or the Wal-Mart where you can get that CD for five bucks less? If you go with the family store, kudos to you ,you're a nice person and willing to ...

Re: AirSprint F/O Position
I've heard that calls went out. Probably a highly contested position. I know of several people who were at or higher than the posted requirements with Pilatus time and did not hear a thing. Then again, posted minimums are only one part of the equation. Having a proper CV is important and knowing som...
