Those crappy airplanes are the ones you want to learn in. Listening to the wind whistle through all the cracks and holes will give you a better "feel" for the airplane.

A short cut could be to earn an airplane Private Pilots License. Something like 15 hours of fixed wing flight time can be counted towards the private helicopter license. Personally I wouldn't spend the money on Commercial heli flight training. Employers want high time pilots to fly their complex and...

Millennium Aviation in Saskatoon is a pretty good FTU. I earned my private license there flying a Cessna 150. There is free ground school Thursday nights at their hanger. If you're ever in the area stop by maybe I'll see you there. Happy Flying!

The last semester of high school along with the summer should be enough. There are factors, The amount of flying weather, if you are able to afford flights two- three times a week and how fast it takes you to solo/ bring your skills to a PPL level.
