By the way: I've found that poor rudderwork in a student is one of the biggest signs of a lazy instructor who sits there counting hours.
Airtids, is there an effective method you have found to get this through to your students?

Well that solves that... but here's another one. Almost embarassed to ask but anyways. Going back to the Fort Hope, ON example, it is nowhere near controlled airspace. How high would you have to climb in order to be in controlled airspace? Here is my understanding of class B airspace as written in t...

No, not really. Just to clarify though... you need a clearance to enter controlled airspace, but not necessarily to enter IMC?

Departing Uncontrolled Aerodrome IFR

Here goes... Departing Fort Hope, ON to Dryden. What is usually done prior to take-off while filing an IFR flight plan. Do you get a clearance at this time?? Do you need one prior to take-off before entering IMC?? Also, radio calls prior to take-off would be broadcast on 126.7 and ATF giving intenti...

Teacher, When I applied for my red pass, they told me they would contact the company when it was ready. The problem is, my company never told me it was done. After getting tired of waiting, I made a phone call to the pass control office who then informed me the pass had been ready for a couple of we...

In the air doing range and endurance when the first plane hit. We completed the lesson as normal and returned to the airport without ever knowing something had happenned. As I was walking into the hangar, I overheard two people talking about a plane hitting the WTC and pentagon. I stood a few feet a...

Lateral Move (Ramp-Ramp)

So what is your opinion of this... Scenario- A person is working a ramp job; however, there is no chance to advance onto an A/C. (Equip. too large-not enough total time) Would it be easier to find another ramp job without a road trip (i.e. telephone/fax/e-mail) after a year and a bit ramp/cargo expe...

Yeah, did some checking in the CARS. Part IV, Standard 421 You need a LOR for the PPL, CPL, Instructor. No mention of INRAT. The grammar mistakes make you wonder if the whole course is full of them.
I think it has potential if done properly though. :P

Just took a quick look at it so don't really know how helpful it is... quick question though. They say they fax a letter of recommendation to TC. Do you need a letter to write the INRAT? :? :o I thought NO, but could be wrong. Anyone know??

Windshear

Help, not understanding something here. If the shear was instant instead of gradual like I'm told it usually is, why does the airspeed momentarily change. Ex. Flying with a 30 kt tailwind, and it reduces to a 10 kt tailwind. Why does the airspeed show an increase of 20 kts for a short time? Probably...

Hey all. Having trouble picturing how a stall horn actually works on a simple trainer ie. C150/172. What causes the horn to sound?

Is there a difference for something more complex, maybe a navajo?

making 10/hr with dental, non-rev on company A/C. Westjet and Air Canada too.

3 weeks paid vacation/yr for part-time work

On the down side this is a ramp job and thats about it... not a place for a newbie to eventually get the right seat.

Not sure if they pay well compared to others, but:

Currently the base pay is approx. 1200/mo (Starting) and $12/flight hour, so it depends on how much flying you do.

Anyone know how this compares to the industry standard, if there is such a thing??

Second Officer vs. Flight Engineer

Can anyone tell me the difference between these two as it relates to something such as a 727?

Checked out the First Air website and the SO requires 300 hrs multi-ifr while the engineer is 50 hrs.

Thanks

If you are interested, right now First Air Yellowknife is looking for 2 rampies. Even though their website says there are no current opportunities, I have seen the posting.
