Re: Flight Dispatcher
I would suggest the link posted above: http://www.flightdispatchtraining.ca/dispatcherstart.asp That course is done by Dario, who also does the internal dispatch prep course for WestJet/WestJet Encore employees trying to get into dispatch. Also, from what I heard, so dont quote me on it, the success...

Embry Riddle or other US university for aviation degree
I'm fortunate enough to already have the career I want at a major airline here in Canada, but I never completed university and I want to have that higher level of education (for personnal satisfaction, potential careers moves, etc.). I was looking into some of the online bachelors degrees that ERAU ...

Re: WestJet Dispatch Interview
Does anybody have any information regarding the interview process for WJ Encore? (as an ab-initio dispatcher?)
I'm guessing I should expect behavioural questions. Any concrete examples?
Also about the company I would imagine, too.
Any technical questions?

Re: Confused about uncontrolled aerodrome procedures
Thanks photofly, but when you say "Who cares what you call them" I beg to differ... ok fine maybe that isn't a big deal today, but tomorrow who cares about pre-flighting the aircraft or checking weather? See what I'm saying? It is a matter of doing things right and also not getting bad habits since ...

Re: Confused about uncontrolled aerodrome procedures
Clear and concise answers! So would it be safe to assume that a rule of thumb here could be ATF=Traffic MF=Radio (or Traffic if no response received from ground station) So what about where it says UNICOM? Apart from informing me there is a ground station, it does not change what I call it. I'm aski...

Confused about uncontrolled aerodrome procedures
Hi everyone, I am a recent JAA licence convert to a TC licence and I'm somewhat confused about uncontrolled aerodrome operations. For example, I am flying to an aerodrome and under the COMM section in the CFS, it is listed as MF: UNICOM 122.8 ltd hrs etc. etc. So my first question here is: What woul...

Re: NAVCanada phone interview
Thank you, miguelito, your insight is greatly appreciated! Interesting how they ask you things in French, good thing I am bilingual though! When they ask you for example stressful situations in your life, will they precise at work/family etc. or is it up to me to find an example regardless of the en...

NAVCanada phone interview
Hello all, I have recently applied for ATC and I have some questions particularly on the first round interview. I know this interview is a behavioural based interview where they ask you to recall certain situations. That is the issue: if you were to ask me for example of a time where I had to handle...

Re: Recent conversion and quick question
Thanks for the answers everyone, so I would join via overhead the field in my example, something done in Europe too so nothing new to me. It's slightly different here. Instead of flying 1000ft above the circuit and descending dead side, here you either fly AT circuit altitude (if you're already on ...

Recent conversion and quick question
Hi everyone, so I recently converted my JAA licence to Canadian (still waiting for it) and I have a quick question that I haven't managed to ask a FI (always forget). Suppose I am arriving at an airport fromthe east but the circuit is on the west side, and ATC clears me to the circuit. How should I ...

Re: European pilot soon to be Canadian pilot
So the CFS is the Canadian Flight Supplement, correct? I suppose this is a "must" for VFR pilots? What other equipment would you recommend, a VNC and a TAC? I'll be flying in the Calgary area, so I don't think radar will be an issue. So far I've been using FltPlan.com to try and find out what a Cana...

European pilot soon to be Canadian pilot
Hello everyone, so I will be moving to Canada shortly and I hold a JAA Private Pilot Licence. I've called a TC office and have viewed the CARs, so I know what requirements (Medical, PSTAR exam etc.) must be met before being issued a Canadian Private Pilot Licence. (By the way, would anybody have a l...
