Pay is about 50k for fo's and about 70k for Capt's. No idea what the company is like. They are forecasting more aircraft in the new year. CP seems like a decent guy.

Re: Importance of the additional ground school
I believe he and i can discuss these simple principles pre/during/post flight lesson and not spend hours jerking around bernoulli's principles, cabin heat controls, carb, etc. I want to focus on things that are in the air (stick and rudder my brother). The rest of the science I can read POH/practic...

Starting wage is around 40k + 9 air time after 20 hours in canada, and 0 hours for overseas. Per Diems are based on area of operations. Schedule is also dependent on area of operations, usually at least 50% time off for time worked though. So if you work 20 days you get 10 off. Operate in Canada, Ch...

Re: Dash 8 single engine approach.
Alright the reference is from the AFM. It maybe worded "should" and may not be a requirement but it is found under 4-3-1 section 4.3.2. Under the notes section. I can't remember the exact wording right now.

Re: Dash 8 single engine approach.
The Dash * 100-300 series AFM states that the autopilot is not allowed to fly a s/e approach. IT will fly it, but doing so breaks the AFM limitation, why it is there I have no idea, email Bombardier and get them to explain it. Hand Flying the approach SE isn't rocket science either, if you remember ...

Re: Medivac call-signs
When I flew medevacs, it was company policy for the pilots not to know the status of patients so as to avoid any heroics. So that being said we were Medevac status whenever there was a patient on the plane and not when we were headed back to base.

Flew a flying club c-172 once that developed a hole in the carb float, ran fine during run up, take off, downwind to final, shut down when the student pulled the throttle to idle on final to adjust altitude, and fired up soon as he added power again.

Rockie, there are a number of aircraft in Canada other than the 737 that are certified with an allowance for cold soaking in the fuel tank area.

Duathlon
To keep it short, I have never participated in any athon at all. Did some training for a half marathon but haven't actually participated in one. Then I started thinking and thought it would be interested in trying a duathlon. Any tips on training for one?

With the amount of oil that a Dash 8 relocates from inside the engine to outside the engine and all over the cowls, I wouldn't paint them a baby blue either!

In the words of Joey Tribiani "Let me get this straight. He got you to beg to sleep with him, he got you to say he never has to call you again, and he got you thinking this was a great idea?" Personally, I think you guys took a step backwards on this deal. Sacrifice so much for the first two years a...

If your applying for over seas with the avmax group, maintenance i believe for R1 and Avmax is done through the Avmax website, if your a pilot apply to R1.

AuxBat that is true, what I meant by core engine design, is compressor, hot section, and exhaust. Nearly the same. The main difference between them is what you stated. Also like to add, that the engines create hot exhaust to be used as thrust. How the energy from the hot exhaust gas is translated in...

Re: Turbo - prop/fan/jet ?
There's good info on the net out there. Nasa, wikipedia and others have it all covered. Without the shroud the propeller is limited to subsonic flight. With the shroud the engine can go supersonic because the shroud slows the airflow down to subsonic speeds. The turbofan is more fuel efficient at hi...
