Re: CPL requirements - hours for flight test in CAN
The 35 dual need to be with a Flight Instructor.
Your title says "... hours for flight test" which you can actually do now as you've got over the required 150. Of course, you need a recommendation from an instructor. But say, he or she is happy with your flying say after just 5 hours or so and writes you a recommend, you can then go ahead and do the flight test before you even hit 200 hours if you choose to do so.
You can also write the CPAER now if you've not done already.

It might be a bit daunting, but I highly recommend you read the standard Big Pistons Forever mentioned.strickenrudder wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2020 11:45 amBut sir, I need these 35 dual hrs done after my PPL?Pilotdaddy wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 4:48 pm The 35 dual need to be with a Flight Instructor.

All your questions will be answered on this link: https://tc.canada.ca/en/corporate-servi ... tions-cars
Division VII, 421.30, section 4 on that page is what you need.

Re: CPL requirements - hours for flight test in CAN
If you want to be a professional pilot, which is why I assume the OP wants a CPL, I think it reasonable that they be familiar with the regulations covering their profession. It is pretty obvious that the CAR’s are not very clear, contain ambiguities, and sometime contradictory direction, but that doesn’t mean you should not make an effort to familiarize yourself with them, especially those regulations and standard that define the privileges and prerequisites of the license you are pursuing......

Thank you all for positive and constructive input. Bear with me, I am not native English speaker and when I read this:
"following the issuance of a private pilot licence — aeroplane by Canada or another contracting state, have completed 65 hours of commercial pilot flight training in aeroplanes consisting of a minimum of:
(amended 2006/12/14) "
I understand this that I need these 65 hours completed after I got my PPL license and have to specifically go to commercial flight pilot training to acquire these

Yes, you need 35 hours dual, after your PPL. Another reply said that an instructor can give you a letter for your flight test after just 5 hours, no they can't, you need 35 hours dual specifically for the CPL.But sir, I need these 35 dual hrs done after my PPL?

I got my recommend for the flight test before hitting 35 hours, shortly after hitting the 150 TT needed for the flight test.

Re: CPL requirements - hours for flight test in CAN
An instructor could recommend you with less than 35 hours of dual CPL training. You will not be able to have your licence signed off until you achieve 35 hours of dual training. Mind you there are some sub clauses in CAR 421.30 that you’ll read about in that 35 hours as well. For example, the FTU I work at just had a guy with 210 hours looking to get his CPL signed off, he needed another 1.4 hrs dual XC before he was able to have the licence signed off.

Re: CPL requirements - hours for flight test in CAN
Most FTU’s will have you done that 65/35 hours at the point of CPL flight test though. Did you go from 120 to 180 hours outside of an FTU environment?
