Jazz sim hiring process
Good day,
Do you know exactly which sim is used for the hiring process in YVR? Is it glass cockpit?

Peculiar question..
“Glass” shouldn’t matter. An airplane is an airplane. The same information is displayed.

What would really trip people up these days is going back a non standard instrument panel from the 50s.

It’s a Dash 8 SIM, in a -100 or -300 configuration.
Either the way, the panel will basically be like this

If you are invited for a sim eval, Jazz will send you a briefing pack with some photos and info on the sim. There are some differences between the Dash 8-300 sims they use in YVR and Downsview.

They will let you fly from whatever seat you are most comfortable in. If your partner wants to fly from the same seat as you , then you would have to switch for the PM duties.
The profile is the basic things. Normal takeoff, a hold, an approach with missed approach and some emergency leading to a shutdown and single engine landing. They will be looking that you are receptive to learning and working as a team. Good luck.

You do the flight twice. Once as PF once as PM. You can fly from whatever seat you're more comfortable in.
Flight consists of: normal takeoff, climb, steep turn, hold entry, engine failure (they give it back to you after you've run the drill), ILS approach, missed approach, VFR approach and landing. You have both engines for both approaches.
Be a good PM and you'll be fine.

Exactly. Are you teachable/trainable? Can you work as a team?Westerncanuck wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 2:27 pmThey will let you fly from whatever seat you are most comfortable in. If your partner wants to fly from the same seat as you , then you would have to switch for the PM duties.

If yes then you're good to go.

Thanks again for all your help.
Now a new question generally after the sim, how long for a response?

Re: Jazz sim hiring process
If you "failed," you'll hear back within a few days.
If you "passed," it may be a few weeks before you hear back. Usually the first sign that you "passed" is your references are contacted.
Either way you'll hear back. No news is good news.
Re: Jazz sim hiring process
What is the next step after sim eval? do you have to pass a medical? how long for a course date proposition?

For the final answer, do you receive a call or an email?

Re: Jazz sim hiring process
How long did it take for you to get the call after sim? Someone mentioned here 3 weeks after reference contacts so that's usually the average time? Or is it when a ground school spots open up?

Re: Jazz sim hiring process
Good morning everyone,
I passed my sim evaluation on February 7th, I received an email for references two days later, and no news since.
Should I contact the HR department or the waiting time is normal?
Thanks for your help !
