It finally happened, over the years of various posters slagging companies and one another it’s done with. Bit of a shame, hopefully someone steps in and carries it on.

Vertical probably got tired of the nasty grams from lawyers on the behalf of companies coming his way. I don't feel vertical had any interest in getting in the middle of a what is free speech. I don't blame him, just a small company trying to scratch out a living. To bad really. Web forums are a great resource in todays walled garden web 2.0+

There was a couple of real nasty posts the last few months regarding the bcehs ascent helicopters contract. I’m guessing it is a disgruntled former employee under various pseudonyms. I agree they were sick of the company and lawyer emails threatening litigation for allowing those kinds of users/posts. Realistically the forums should have been shut down years ago. The community had ample warning this would happen the past ten years, just takes one bad apple to spoil it for the rest. The Mole wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 2:34 pm Vertical probably got tired of the nasty grams from lawyers on the behalf of companies coming his way. Some of you on here will know me as twinnie, one of the moderators on the Vertical site. I found out about the closure the same way you did. I've been a member of Vertical for over 20 years, don't remember how many as a mod. It wasn't just the few who f***ed it for all of us, the number of spam members and crap was getting ridiculous.
I met some really good people on Vertical... some have passed on, some are still around... I hope we get to keep in touch... i think i was one of the original members of AvCanada... anyhow, hope to keep the ride going...
remember, "to hover is divine"...

Is there any interest for someone to take over yet?twinstar_ca wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2024 5:26 pm Some of you on here will know me as twinnie, one of the moderators on the Vertical site. I have no idea.. I wasn't high enough on the food chain to be privy to any of that sort of info...

Maybe it will survive under new ownership. I rejoined vertical after a very long hiatus and just recently on as of a few weeks ago. What spam were you talking about? Or did you clear it before it was posted?twinstar_ca wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2024 8:36 am I have no idea.. I wasn't high enough on the food chain to be privy to any of that sort of info...

I think it’s shut down or having network issues. Can’t open the forums anymore.twinstar_ca wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2024 12:25 pm I would try to clear it as soon as I saw it and lots of times, regular members would report it so I could do something about it..

If you folks are really interested in keeping it going, there is a company called VerticalScope, I believe based out of Toronto. They have been buying up lots of specialty forums over the last few years. A couple years back they bought up one I was a long time user of for one of my hobbies, there was some minor teething during the switchover, but, it's been going strong ever since.
They may be interested in taking over the vertical forums.

I don’t think there is any genuine intent by vertical Mike to keep it alive. The content on there lately is definitely putting pressure on operators with users disclosing certain damning facts. I think they just want to kill it.goldeneagle wrote: ↑Fri May 24, 2024 10:54 am If you folks are really interested in keeping it going, there is a company called VerticalScope, I believe based out of Toronto.
