The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no

After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

So any operation that runs a scheduled service (703) or is there a weight classification of the aircraft that makes it a tier 3 airline.

Tier 3 I think was a “coined” term to describe 18-19 seat airline that feed passengers to the main line and/or its regional airline. For example Air Canada is the main line with Jazz (tier 2) the regional airline and with Air Georgian (tier 3).

It is a term that is now used loosely to describe an airline that is a step down in a pilot’s career from the regional airline.

My take on it anyway :) .

It has little to do with 703 ops. It has to do with the hierarchy of the particular airline. For example, a small airline that isn't affiliated with any major carrier is not a tier 3 airline. Furthermore, its only the particular commerical agreement that dictates the type of aircraft and ops of a tier 3 carrier.

Even within the group that are commonly refered to as tier 3's there are massive differences with how closely they are affiliated with the mother company.
