What if AC and Jazz call at the same time?
Hello,
I now that somebody probably already asked this question before. I would like to now what happens if Air Canada and Jazz call you at the same time for an interview and because Jazz selection process is quicker you are accepted by Jazz and no news from AC. Than Air Canada accepts you few months latter but you are already at Jazz.
Do you?
1. Have to work at Jazz for two years and you are guarantied job at Air Canada after two years because AC already accepted you?
2. You leave Jazz and just go to AC?
3. You have do another interview with Air Canada in few months (when you get enough seniority with Jazz) and no guaranty that you will be accepted at AC? You were accepted with Air Canada but you lost your place because you went to Jazz, and you have to do everything again.
I asked this because it already happened to a guy that worked with me (AC and Jazz called at the same time and he was accepted from Jazz but no news from AC) but I didn’t have time to speak with him about that because he left for Cathay.
I would like to apply for Jazz but I am afraid because of that.

Why not just apply at the company you want to work for? If you prefer AC, then apply there and stay at your present job in the meantime. Likewise with Jazz. Chasing companies and moving around constantly just leads to frustration. Both companies are great for different reasons and decide if you want big planes that go far or little planes that don't quite go as far. Pay is the same moreless for the first few years so what else is there?
Ok. My First Choice is Air Canada second is Jazz. But who garanties me that Air Canada will call me for an interview and second who garanties me that they will hire me after the interview. I would be happy at Jazz also but as I sad Air Canada is my first choice. If you are able to respond to my question than thank you it will help me in my decision if not it is not helping.

they may both call you, but that would be quite a lucky day. in other case, the one calling you is the good one.
Take both interviews, and explain to Jazz when they call for a GS that you have some commitment you have to honor before you can accept a GS (they will place you in a pool). Wait and hear from AC and either take AC if offered, or Take Jazz if not sucessful with AC.

As I am sure you are aware, your chances of getting on with AC are better coming off the street than they are coming out of Jazz.
In answer to your first question, if you have accepted employment with Jazz, and subsequent to starting with Jazz you are offered employment with AC, you are screwed. You must go through the entire selection process at AC again, when your number comes up. There is no position being held for you at AC.
If you really want AC then that is perhaps where you should focus your attention. Don't worry about the what if they don't call scenario... Don't take Jazz becuase you think it will guarantee you employment with AC, cause it won't - it only guarantees the interview, and that is about it.
Your worse case scenario is take whichever calls first, and if it happens to be Jazz, apply at Westjet. You will probably get offered a job at Westjet, (coming from Jazz) long before AC ever comes knocking at your door.

Once you take a job with Jazz is when you cannot go to AC out of order. And as far as I know you will not be blacklisted - that would require a lot of communication and organization between our two groups.ihavecontrol wrote:When are you no longer eligible to go to Air Canada, once you have accepted the interview or once you have accepted the job at Jazz? If you turn down an interview or job at Jazz are you in anyway blacklisted at Air Canada?

I agree with KAG's first post... if you can hold off the G/s with Jazz until you hear back from mainline you will have an easier choice to make then. (that's if Mainline is your first choice)
