Very Spoiled
Have been watching posts for some time here. I have had ultimate opportunities in this industry from the beginning. A non airline person from the start for 25 plus years. I have always been able to identify opportunities in this industry. My question is very simple...why do I see so many people complaining of positions they hold with various operators, when it is very clear that the same opportunities so clearly are available other places. I myself as others have always had choices. This industry does hold opportunities and success, but perhaps you have to be in control of it. I do feel for the newly introduced commercial pilot, but you are in control. As a passenger at times, I have a choice. It should be your choice. No need to be a "driver" just a pro as you have learned to be. just my bitch post!! I am still trying to figure out to give back what fantastic chances I have been given.
How do you go 205 kts TAS on 32 gal/hr without turbos!

Re: Very Spoiled
Good point! Like you, I feel spoiled to be in this industry and further spoiled to be working for my current employer. In fact, I've had two other employers prior to this one - I was spoiled from day one. For the record, day one for me was scheduling 50 students to 15 instructors to 9 airplanes and 2 sims (before the days of computer scheduling) in a college program. Yes, that is 50 students with 50 different schedules!
I wonder if disgruntlement comes when one expects the industry to solve all personal problems. Maybe some people expect the industry to fill that "void within us" that each person encounters. I reckon a few years spent in India or China as a laborer would fix a lot of trash talk about the industry/ employers once and for all. Maybe even scheduling 50 students onto 9 airplanes for a year would suffice.
Lets face it folks, as McPhoo says, "we hit the lottery."
