CYYZ closed???
I'm down in the States and am having a hard time finding any info. I heard that YYZ, 401, 400 all closed because of an exposion in the city. Please don't tell me terrorists. I'd appreciate any info.
Re: CYYZ closed???
Sounds like a propane storage facility went up. Haven't heard that it was terrorists.

Re: CYYZ closed???
There was a fire this morning at Sunrise (petroleum company). Residents in the Wilson and Keele area were evacuated and the 401 was closed from the 400 to the DVP for a while. No major injuries... think they're hoping to re-open things by tonight. Don't think the airport was ever closed because of it though. Of course if you listen to the radio some people thought the world was ending.
Re: CYYZ closed???
Thanks guys.
Of course when something like this goes down you can never get a hold of anyone back home.
As you know sometimes the US media blows things out of preportion and I saw the trailing end of a story.

Did you know a firefighter was killed? I hope that nobody from his family will read your ignorant comments. Thousands of people evacuated from thier houses. Great Canadian you are.marktheone wrote:Burn baby burn!!
Do you sell aircraft to people in Toronto? Who do you work for? Bet you won't answer.
Don't come back.
Get fucked!
Re: CYYZ closed???
Mark...maybe you should try to explain yourself before we get the wrong idea.marktheone wrote:Burn baby burn!!
I know you Albertans don't mean to see anyone hurt...no matter where they live in this country.
Go ahead son...explain your comment.
Re: CYYZ closed???
Even if in jest, not funny, and inlight of everything (death, evacuations), in pretty poor taste.marktheone wrote:Burn baby burn!!
Now what I would like to know is how did the propane plant get permits to open in a res area? News is saying the plant is newer (houses there before the plant), the city planners should have re-thought that one.

Easy, guys. Cut Mark some slack 'till he explains himself. The way I read his comments, the
after his words says that he's *not* happy with the situation. 'Course, I can't speak for him, so what do I know?

Say, what's that mountain goat doing up here in the mist?

Correct. And to those who took offence, I apologize. I don't wish to see anyone get hurt.North Shore wrote:Easy, guys. Cut Mark some slack 'till he explains himself. On top of it all I get a little worked up about the anti-Toronto redirect on this site.
I don't really want you to take your airplane and drive it right into the ground.

Re: CYYZ closed???
Back to the original title of the thread about the airport being closed... CYYZ isn't closed, but the Downsview airport might be... just heard on CP24 that Bombardier employees from that location are being advised not to come into work tomorrow. Anyone else hear this? 401 is open again but the Keele and Dufferin on-ramps are still closed and people haven't been allowed back in their homes yet.
Re: CYYZ closed???
I am sure if it was terrorists, your news sources in the states would be all over that. They seem to always capture the explosion as it happens - how I don't know... jee ever wonder if they're at any POSSIBILITY involved? oops... I was soo not intending to bring that up.
Seriously, every explostion doesn't involve terrorists.
