Next Groundschool Dates?

Post by hopper »

Is there any word on dates for the next groundschool?

How long has it typically been for those interviewed to get the PFO letter? It's been 5 weeks and waiting for the mail!

Not sure on the exact dates but I wouldn't worry to much yet about the letter.. It can take up to 2 month or more sometimes for them to let you know either way.. Its a long wait I know but that seems to be the way they do things..

wizard of oz, have you gotten a call for the next ground school or have you been in a previous course? I have gone through the interview, medical, etc. in the last 6 weeks and the waiting is killing me.

Thanks for the words of encouragement.

It's been five weeks since the interview for me, but no call for a medical and we are going into Christmas. The interview went well, but I have heard of some getting a medical fairly quickly...so I assume most of you who have done the medical are in line for a groundschool, barring anything unforeseen.

Does anyone know if the Cog tests are pass or fail or have a score and are part of the selection process?

hopper...same boat, it's been almost 7 weeks for me. I thought things went well but I also think I'm good looking. Some people waiting much shorter times between interview and medical.

Good luck

10 weeks since the interview, no letter or phone call. GL to all and congrats to anyone who's been hired.

I also "Always" think I am good looking. I have great ideas "Often" and get frustrated "Always" when others don't agree with my great ideas. It's also "True" that my drinking doesn't always never interfere with my job and family. I also happen to think that these are qualities found in an Air Canada Pilot. Several weeks no call...go figure?

Hopefully, if and when, things start to roll in the New Year there will be some more consistency to call backs and we will all be on our way to a pay cut. I think there were a few short notice new hires that got medicals and hired quickly to fill groundschool slots and am glad to hear there are several of us out there in the void...or should I say "sitting at the "bottom" of the candidate pool?...kidding...stay positive ...I will stop speculating on the tightly guarded secret process nobody can figure out.

Good luck to all you guys.

Everyone,

There's a course planned for the first half of January, and to my knowledge it is not full yet. There's more to come. As to the timeline for call backs or course dates, it is difficult to nail down. My advice, enjoy Christmas and New Years. If you do get the call for Jan or later, you will be heads down in the books and sim for several months so make the most of your time.

Does anyone know the size of the ground school for January? How about how much time A/C will typically give you notice before going to the ground school so you can give notice to your current employer? I had the interview and got called for the medical three business days later but I am now waiting to hear further.

The course starts January 10. At the moment it will contain about 14 people.

Yup. There's a course on the 10th and calls have already started. Could be around 14 people. There's a second course planned in January as well, 24th maybe? Still looks like a mix of EMJ and 767RP in YYZ. The word is 4 or 5 interview invites for every hire so far. I would say that a quick medical is a good sign but not a guarantee. Two weeks notice to hire is common, and so is waiting a bit after the medical. Recent hire experience has been above 3500hrs, from twin turbine to Airbus. December's equipment bid showed the ability to hire 61 (53 on top of the 2010 course hires). Good luck guys and gals, and Happy Holidays!

There is no deal.. If you get enough points throught the matrix you get an interview. The last big wave of hiring saw experience levels going from guys with nothing but Navajo time to Airbus captains.. My advice to send in your resume and keep it updated all the time.

Good luck to everyone!!!

What does AC ask you to bring to the interview? (I assume the obvious logbook, license just curious if there is anything else).
