I moved into the are recently and am looking for a grass strip. If anyone knows where i can meet with the owner of such a strip please chime in. I am on guelph line 5km north of the 401. Guelph airpark frowns on ultralights i have a 2006 challenger 2 and am looking to moore in the area.

Don't know why you say that about Guelph Airpark . I keep my biplane there. We have a couple of ultralights based there and there has never been a problem with them. I would suggest talking with the owner not the Flying School.paulhutton wrote:I moved into the are recently and am looking for a grass strip. There are a couple just off Hwy 24 between Guelph and Erin. One is about 300ft from the road with hangars clearly visible. Its just west of hwy 24 and Trafalgar Rd. near the public school.

Also one by Flamborough down a ways south of the 401.

There's Reid's, just off the 401 east of the Cambridge service center, but it's not grass. First time I ever realized there was a runway in that cut of trees was about 15 years ago when I came out of McDonalds heading east, and a small business jet came rocketing out from the trees. Just about wore my coffee LOL.

There's Royland Field directly North of Fergus with two grass runways and vintage taildraggers. You can see it on Google. The hangar is shaped like a cross.

Here's a map roughly centered on your place (as you described it) with airstrips and airports shown.

Only a DHC-2 Amphib flying out of CPE4 now, but dont think the owners are wanting any other birds there.DanJ wrote:There's Reid's, just off the 401 east of the Cambridge service center, but it's not grass. that has to be the most exclusive strip around as i've never seen one acft fly out of there and i driven by it twice daily for 5yrs . these private owner's must be harrison ford type people .cdnpilot77 wrote:Only a DHC-2 Amphib flying out of CPE4 now, but dont think the owners are wanting any other birds there.DanJ wrote:There's Reid's, just off the 401 east of the Cambridge service center, but it's not grass. The owner, Orin Reid, whose passion for flying was the reason the strip was built, died in 2000 at a young age due to leukemia. The family home and head office of their real estate business are located there. That's why there's not as much activity although I've read that there are other pilots in the family.

Orin's son is in fact a pilot and used to own a 182 amphib, but sold that a couple of years after his dad passed away. The airfield had basically been mothballed with the exception of a few charter flights flown until we brought the beaver in, had the runway lines repainted, lights re-certified, and the fuel tanks flushed. The hangar is 75' x 75' heated with a roll up door, it is a kick ass place to work from, no doubt about it. Flew around the CN Tower a couple of times today justto burn some gas.

There's a grass N-S strip just East of Puslinch Lake. The owner is a cropduster pilot.

Re: private airstrips in the campbellville area?
i guys and thanks for everyone who has replied so far. I was misinformed by the school at guelph Airpark that I was not welcome there i made mention that i had 15 hrs and wanted a few more with my trainer and was looking for space when i was given the cold shoulder, which sent me on this gooschase. Cam thanks for setting that straight for me, Guelph seems the best and closest choice for me but still refer a small grass strip within distance. I have been to jorgenson for a 1 hr flight this past summer, was good instruction great but a little far from the house to travel all the time. I am going to get into Guelph for a summer tiedown but as always will be looking for a farmer, cropduster, enthusiest who has a more private setting, if anyone can think of one still all the best and thanks.
went for a drive on sunday to look for the one on 24/trafalger but just couldnt seem to find it also someone mentioned a few years back a local farmer built one on 5th line between 25 and 30 side road here in nassagaweya but again i was not able to
find it heard he died and maybe new owner didnt maintain it.
