Online Log Books
This is a general question I have that anybody is welcome to answer (I apologize if there's already a post on this)
Online log books
Do you use them? Which site do you find the best? Commercial or Private? Free or paid? Any other input?

Re: Online Log Books
Get a real nice leather-bound paper book. In twenty years, you will be able to flip it open and read your comments without firing up a computer. And you won't wipe it out with a button or forget your password. I have four books on the shelf and 27 years of logging in them.
Drinking lots of coffee lately, at a nice safe jungle desk, wishing I were flying......
Re: Online Log Books
I use zululog.com which is free for the basic edition, and still record my flights in a paper logbook.
I figure its good to have a back up.

I agree 100% on the paper book copy. I'm just looking for a good backup, in case it gets lost or stolen.
Re: Online Log Books
Get a real nice leather-bound zip close binder.
Design your own log book using Excel or some other spreadsheet.
Print out the pages periodically and use protective sleeves or laminate them.
Email a copy of your logbook to yourself every few months and keep an updates one on your zip drive.
Never worry about losing your logbook again. Never be frustrated that your logbook does not have the fields you want or need. Customize your logbook to tell you instantly the hours you've flown on certain types, in certain time periods, for requirements towards licences, etc.
I personally haven't used a traditional log book in over seven years and never will again.

Re: Online Log Books
I made a excel sheet that tallies up my hours and pay, uploaded it to google docs. after a flight I just go on my iphone and fill in date, A/C, comments, etc, it utilizes google's servers so no down time and I can access it from any device, all communications are encrypted, and its FREE.
I still use my leather logbook, I update the hardcopy every few weeks, I also scan and upload/update my paper log to google just incase. If my paper logbook goes AWOL, I just print, cut and paste into a new logbook.

SuperchargedRS I think that's an excellent idea, I don't know why I never thought about it before.
I actually already have my log book on a spread sheet, it's now being uploaded to google docs as we speak
thanks
