Green Airways
Alright I just saw that ad yesterday on PCC.
http://pilotcareercenter.com/Pilot-Job- ... ys+Limited
Seems like they're hiring for every possible position. I checked it out, they say they've been around since 1950 so it's no new company. Does anyone know how come they're hiring a whole new staff?

Re: Green Airways
I know they were up for sale, but Jack's name is still on the ad...
Re: Green Airways
I;m curious about all the openings as well. TC must be asking the same question. All 3 management positions as well as pilots. House cleaning, mass exodus, or fishing?
What little I do know is either not important or I've forgotten it!

Re: Green Airways
Do I give them a resume, or do I run and hide?
Also, 877 revenue hours seems pretty low for 5 aircraft in a season. Pilots sure aren't running into duty time issues there.

Re: Green Airways
I worked there a few years ago. It was a good first job and a place you can learn a lot at. The otters are the meat of the company and do the majority of the revenue hours in a season. The beavers and cessna were more for overloads and MNR while I was there. Season was from mid may to end of October and the cessna pay was slightly higher than some other places in Red (2600/ month plus $400 for subsidized living or a room in one of the crew houses).
It seems some of the recent position openings are due to the death of one of the owners. He was the ops manager and dispatcher and regretfully passed away this past fall. The CP was the son of the other owner and is now working for a larger carrier out west. Some of the pilots will return but there are usually some who move on each year.
Hope this Helps,

GoingNowhere: It's been a while since I worked in NWOnt, but my impression of Green at that time was pretty favourable - I would have liked to work there. They've been around for a few years (1950's!) and never seem to come up when dirtbag companies are mentioned. I'm sure that you could find worse places to work.

Re: Green Airways
That's what I figured when I talked to Jack a few years ago. Seems like a really good operation. I was just scared there was a big up-rising within the ranks or other scary news. Sad to hear about one of the owners dying. I believe I have heard his name, just can't recall it at the moment.

Re: Green Airways
His name was Bob Green. If you apply, and are accepted for a job at Green Airways, I am sure you will be treated well. Jack Green can be a tough man but is fair, reasonable and I believe would be good to work for. His family has been in the business for a lot of years, and Jack is the brains behind the operation. Unfortunately, revenue hours are down, and declining, for everyone in the area. This has been an ongoing issue for several years, and was a problem when we had our air service in the area.
I'm ecstatic to be flying helicopters now, but if I wasn't, my resume would be on Jack's desk - without hesitation.
Cheers,
Kirsten B.

Granted, I haven't flown in Red for 25 years, but Green Airways was always what I thought of as worthy adversaries. Before it was law, their drivers had days off. Airplanes always in good shape. If I was starting over I'd have been all over them.

That's how it should be done.We can unequivocally state, that once we have committed ourselves to you with a position with our company, we stand by that commitment, we expect guarantees to be reciprocal.
Nice touch (for a bush operation, at least)!$700.00 medical benefit for medical, glasses, dental, etc. for items not covered in your other insurance plans. Any unused portion is added on to the last pay period.
Re: Green Airways
So. Anyone heard from them yet? I'm guessing it might be a tight year for experienced float pilots, with all the small twin carriers looking for pilots.

I worked for 3 different ops out of YRL and Green was always the op we aspired to. When I 1st graduated flight school and went on my 1st road trip, YRL was certainly a stop. Jack took the time to show me around the place and said he always liked to give the new guys a start when he could. When I got home from my road trip 2 weeks later, there was a letter from Jack Green waiting for me. He thanked me for taking the time to stop in and introduce myself. He also asked me to contact a certain Ops Mgr in YRL and see if they had a spot on the 206...and tell him Jack sent you. I called the gentleman he asked me to, and started working there a week later on their 206. Thats the kind of man (and company) Jack runs. If you get a shot with Green, you are assured of a safe operator, reliable equipment, and float drivers with 30+ yrs experience to learn from. Great place to start or retire to!
Good luck to all who applied!
Re: Green Airways
I flew one of the Otters there for a short time. Bob was great to work with. I'm sad to see him go. The lunches he put on were great! Jack was more of an office guy but seemed alright. I had other issues at the time and didn't stick around long. Real nice area. The town is good. Season is short. I offered to help out in June because I am off rotation. You never know.
Re: Green Airways
Does anyone know what they've been paying their otter pilots recently?

Don't quote me on it but 6000/month, and a place to stay from what I have heard.

Re: Green Airways
Ya, kind of strange. Float operators who want experienced float/urbine pilots are in for a big surprise. AC, WJ, Jazz, Transwest, Porter etc are hiring. Any aspiring float pilot is going to fill the F/O void in the twin world. I have applied to a number of bush companies, who seem to be dragging their heals.
I remember back in the early to mid 2,000's when opersators parked planes due to lack of qualified pilots.
Employers beware, if you see a good candidate, commit now!

Re: Green Airways
What's your experience and where are you located Lost Lake? Pm if you want. I know a few operators looking...
By the way, you're right. Experienced float drivers are going the way of the Do Do bird.
