Re: AirSprint Fleet Transition
The pilot schedule is currently a 10 day reserve, 5 day off schedule.
Could anyone comment on the nature of the reserve? Is the callout time sufficiently long that one could be on the Calgary base but reside in Vancouver?

Re: AirSprint Fleet Transition
Quite possibly the stupidest response I've seen on Avacanada.
But perhaps I could be more clear. If it were to be the case that it is an 8 or 12 hour callout one could easily live in Vancouver, Victoria, Canmore, Invermere, etc.

I would also be curious... but I think think it might be more like 2 - 3 Hours if you are technically "on-shift" even though you are reserve.

Although most flights have greater than 12 hours notice, our pilots are required to be airborne in as little as 2.5 hours after notification for short notice flights. Unfortunately, Vancouver would not work.

Re: AirSprint Fleet Transition
I must give credit where its due. It would seem that Airsprint HR is perfectly happy to share company policies with internet people.. Whereas some companies that I have worked for were very happy to keep us in the dark and "adjust" policies when it suited them.
Once I log a few more hours on the 704 turboprop I presently fly, they can expect to see my resume. I am more than happy to keep an aircraft clean for an organization that believes in communicating with its people.
I would think of it as good airmanship.

Re: AirSprint Fleet Transition
As an update on the fleet transition, we will be replacing 3 PC12s with CJ2+ aircraft before the end of the year. We have identified a need for 2 direct entry jet Captains, 1 in Calgary and 1 in Toronto, over the next few months. As well, we will be hiring a number of PC12 First Officers for Calgary, Toronto, and Montreal. These PC12 First Officer positions will be expected to upgrade quickly as the PC12 fleet decreases in size. Calls for interviews will start going out next week, with interviews taking place in August and September. This is just the first hiring round and I will update you in the future when additional rounds are planned.

Airsprint HR,
Would you be interested in ex military guys with slightly less than minimum total time (for a Capt position), but of which most is PIC high performance multi engine jet, or would we be wasting our time because we don't have the minimum total time?

I would say apply if interested in the position. We look at every resume that comes in including those that are below the minimum requirements. We understand that military total time can be different from civilian total time with regards to experience.

Just wondering how the hiring is going for Calgary. I'd like to send a resume in for the Calgary base, am I too late for this round? Are the vacancies filled for now?
Any info would be great.

Re: AirSprint Fleet Transition
I was wondering how Airsprint does it's logistics of transporting crews from the Aircraft to their base at the end of their duty tour.
Do they buy tickets on AC or WJ to get crews home and bring in new crews as is done by Netjets and the others in the US or do they repo the aircraft back to base?
Any plans on home baseing is the future? As some of the US fracs found out in the beginning the repo costs of the aircraft going back to the home base was considerably more expensive then flying the pilots in from their homes.

Crews are often transported to/from aircraft via the airlines. We also position aircraft if it makes sense. Canada has some different operating considerations than the US, but that is part of the secret sauce so I'll hold off on the detail.

Hello ASHR,
It's been pretty quiet around here the last few months. Any update on Toronto hiring?
Cheers,

Re: AirSprint Fleet Transition
No active plans for further hiring right now but that may change over the next few months. As an update, there are now 3 CJ2+ aircraft online and the schedule is in the process of switching to 8/4 from 10/5 following a vote by the pilots.

I’m curious about the destination of the departing PC-12s. How long are the aircraft staying on property till removal? And any ideas of destinations for any upcoming arriving CJ’s?
