LOA
Good day,
I am an outsider looking for some info regarding the LOA at AC...? How does it work? How difficult it is to get one? What is the maximum length? How many times in your career can you put a request for a LOA? What kind of justification may be asked when requesting one?
Thanks in advance! This is to learn more about the possibilities at AC...?

Re: LOA
Wow, here is someone who seems to want to work for AC, but not yet employed, and already wants to know about LOA's. That is what I call 'ambition'.
I don't work for AC, but take my advice...don't bother to apply.

Thanks for your useful input!
Maybe I have plans that require me to take a few months off to become a reality. This doesn't mean my ambition is lower than anybody else. If such "programs" exist it probably means there is a need for them sometimes...
Lets keep coming in the reliable info.

Re: LOA
I know that your base chief pilot can authorise a LOA for a short time frame. It all depends on the reason of your request and current pilot staffing at the base and equipment. Also when times are pretty slow at AC (like close to layoffs ) then you may be authorized for a long term LOA where guys end up getting jobs overseas while retaining their seniority.
Cheers

Re: LOA
Base Chief Pilot? We have those?
AC is not offering LOAs right now and those who took them are returning to retain their seniority number. They are only offered at times of contraction as a way of mitigating layoffs and reduced blocks. AC currently has widebody expansion plans so they need the bums in seats to fly.

Re: LOA
Mig29 I know you are trying to help with answers. But Leave it to the people who are employed at AC we can give more solid answers. Not trying to be a jerk just saying if your not fully knowing the answer about a different company than you work for sometimes its just better to sit back and not say anything. Cheers!
