I believe they did used to hire pilots to do this, but they may have changed their ways to the same as Boeing and Airbus where the test pilots are really engineers in the company. Ive heard different stories as to whats going on.

Biz, at Airbus, they're pilots first, engineers second (and not all have an engineer degree) most of them have flown military or training for major Airlines.

I met a guy who bragged he was a retired Bombardier test pilot.

He was dumber than a sack of hammers. Last I heard someone appointed him to be a judge. Go figure.

Depends on the type of test pilot. There's the experimental ones in witchita, and the production test pilots in Montreal, Toronto and a few other bases in the States.

Questions a little clearer to me after a couple of responses...Elliot Moose is in YUL on the production side and got there via a YPL HS748 operator.

I know that Airbus just hired a test pilot, his resume is pretty impressive : fighter pilot, test pilot already for the french army, graduated from "Polytechnique" (the french MIT) and... astronaut!!! So I guess the level is pretty high.

Anyway, good luck, if he has succeded, why not others...
