I have a question that I can't seem to figure out on the Q400. A picture in the AFM of the CB panels revealed that there is a CB for the "stby hyd pump1" on one of the main busses (I believe the right main).
I was under the impression that the standby hyd pump was powered by 115 AC. The QRH says if we lose the right ac bus, we lose the pump.
What part or function of this pump gets its power from a main bus?
I have a feeling one of you AME's are going to make me look silly, but it's worth asking!
Thank you for any replies!

Re: Q400 Electrical Question
I believe this is most likely the DC powered control for the AC pump. That circuit breaker probably is for the relay that will control the pump.
Re: Q400 Electrical Question
Don't know the Q but if that's the case there still has to be some protection for the AC power going through that relay somewhere. Either a breaker or a fuse.
Re: Q400 Electrical Question
The standby hydraulic pump is powered by variable frequency 115VAC. The main power is protected by remote devices. The STBY HYD PMP 1 circuit breaker on the R SECONDARY bus is for control and indication which is DC. This is pretty common.
