I hate government policy that has built the canadian economy explicitly on continuously rising home prices, not on building things, and what that is doing to the next generation. All to buy retiree votes and stay in power.

Enthusiastically voted for , by boomers.
I couldn't agree with you more on the first point, however, your irrational hate of a demographic of the society based solely on their birthdate is beyond irrational and bordering on bigotry.

Any sensible person knows that boomers, or any other generation for that matter voted for a variety of parties, didn't dictate policy and in reality were just trying to make their way through life like the rest of us.

You sound like you have been exposed to too many division campaigns and not to enough critical thinking skills.

Not a good look for a pilot bud.
You mean like from our elected leaders, who viciously labels anyone who doesn’t agree 100% with them as the “far right” ? (Among many other nasty adjectives)

Don't worry rookie, you'll have much bigger problems soon. We're on a fast track to 100 million Canadians (with a majority from a particular southeast Asian country), so buckle up! You'll be pining for the days where a scabby woman on a plane was the worst of your woes. But hey, those property values sure do keep going up! Boomers are richer than ever!
I would gladly trade a loss on my property value to prevent the above, I’m with you though, my general thoughts towards Canadian values is, they no longer exist.
How much of a loss? 50%?

Cause there is no free lunch, with the young not having children cause they can’t afford housing, and with drastic cuts to immigration.

What’s your solution?

Ha! And yes, some of us can copy and paste.

I am curious— what part of my paragraph is factually wrong?

Open to interpretation
First of all, it’s entirely factually wrong because you started it with, “you are like”, therefore you we describing how you think I feel, which non of it was correct, other than the part where I said people don’t give a rats ass about other people.
And yes ChatGPT, my views are shaped by my experiences!
But its fine to say I hate boomers? (Not the case) Or AC pilots? Or any other labels?

Hate the behaviour, not people.

Hyprocrisy is a good look.
What the @#$! are you talking about?
I said I would trade excessive immigration for a decrease in property values and you called me a liar, followed by your diatribe about boomers, of which I am not one, this conversation is ridiculous which is exactly why I didn’t respond to your original post, calling me a lying boomer.
And yes, you do “seem” to have a dislike for AC pilots, your constant posts criticizing them are absolute proof of that, hypocrisy indeed!

Just as pilots aren't mechanics or meteorologists, cabin crew aren't doctors.

What does a pilot do when he suspects something might be wrong with his plane? He doesn't fly it until he's confident that what could be nothing really is nothing. Is that puddle of fuel an innocent overflow from a vent? Could well be, but you'll damn sure check before you get airborne. Is the marginal weather forecasted on the GFA really going to end up affecting you? If you're not an idiot, you're going to err on the side of caution and wait it out.

What do cabin crew do when they're in doubt about the health and safety of the passengers whose safety they're paid to ensure? They don't close the door and go zooming along at thousands of feet and hundreds of knots locked in a tube with a potentially contagious person and a couple of hundred other, innocent passengers in tow, that's what. And if you think that cabin crew (or any other customer facing roles) are given the time and resources to fully, completely check things out at their leisure, you've clearly never worked at an airline. When in doubt, you pick the option that doesn't risk potentially getting dozens of people, including yourself, sick.

There'll always be a later flight for the passenger who needs to be left behind due to safety concerns.

Thanks for articulating that so well, I’m seeing on the news this morning that MPOX is being looked at for being considered a worldwide epidemic and I imagine based on what MPOX looks like this person was potentially infected with it.

You should definitely get vaccinated. The “experts” recommend it.

The broader conversation in the title of my thread — is why every customer is assumed to be lying regardless of the reason, not whether someone is too sick or not to fly.

The answer is, its quicker. Its a self service world without staff, easier to assume everyone is a liar, or not even listen to their problems, genuine or not.

You should see Westjet Twitter. Trends constantly. Can’t get anyone on the phone, ever.

Low fares aren’t everything. Not to me , anyway.

Except you used an example of someone displaying a potentially communicable disease, so if you look like you could have MPOX(or insert disease) you should be prepared to prove you can travel in a tube.
Note, discharge papers are not the same as note from your doctor saying you can travel. If I were a betting man, I would bet discharge papers are not on an approved list of permissions.
Frequent travellers, of all people should appreciate the stop gaps keeping you safe from the people who will lie to get themselves home when sick.

People are assumed to be lying because a large enough percentage of the population are lying.

That is why we have to listen to barking or loud meowing on a flight from another person’s emotional support pet. The airlines stopped it because so many people, who just so happened to be conveniently saving money or time or whatever, were bringing all kinds of animals with them….

We live in a society full of scammers and therefore have to deal with reality. I say good on Southwest for being willing to ensure the safety of passengers as their is no shortage of them willing to pass on their diseases in order to get home or to destination.

Speaking of our society of scammers(and shoplifters), a couple of years ago, I was talking to a city complaint worker and we somehow got on the subject of people making false claims about driveway damage after nearby construction work and wanting a free paving of their driveway. He said that he was the one who would follow through and have the “uncomfortable” follow-up conversation after having compared the driveway pictures taken before and then after work was completed. I can’t remember all the details but I think it was when he worked for a major energy company that installs natural gas pipelines to homes.

We live in a society full of scammers.
