Good luck and just out of curiosity, have a couple of Aussie mates at the 1000 hour mark (all 320 time) interested in living in Asia. Competitive?
There are A320 jobs everywhere here.. you can't swing a cat and not find one. Next to the B73NG, its the most common job in the expat world. However HKCAD requires 1500 hrs TT (and ATPL) in order to validate a license - you still write between 6-10 exams too.

Vietnam or Mainland China may take a 1000hr TT.

Asia Al, if you were to be based in Canada with your current company, would you still be getting your housing bonus? I know a few guys at Cathay that are now based back here and they all took significant cuts in pay and benefits to do so.

Why is it that when someone on this forum questions the viability of being able to live on 37K a year in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, or wherever, they get so much attitude. 37K a year is a very small amount of money and the fact that you may be at 70K in 3 years doesn't make it any easier to feed your 3 children today. Grown men and women have come to accept this state of affairs and in my mind that isn't right. People with far fewer qualifications in the first 2 years of their careers (not their tenth) are making double this amount. I think it is time to wake up folks. We need to try and change the structure of this pay over the course of a career.
And good on Al for going overseas and making some decent money. I love Canada but there is a whole world out there. We don't need to be afraid of living in other countries.

See other page. I work for Dragon. BUT, your right CX loses housing when you leave HKG. And since the HOUSING is main part, its a tough decision.

Missed the Dragon part sorry. My point was simply that adding benefits like tax free money and housing bonus's is like comparing apples and oranges since non of those extra's exist in Canada even if you are working for a company that offers them elsewhere.
