No it doesn't. I don't think I should have to explain why, but I will.

The whole point is someone making a bad decision. No-one decides to crash an airplane... well unless that's your only plan of course, but that's not the topic.

Westjet is the most pro-active, safety-conscious company I've ever worked for, and my resume is extensive(not just aviation businesses). Does that settle your mind just a little bit?

Are the stock options in lieu of a pension or in addition to. Pensions are not reflected on a T4 the pay disparity may be explained.

In Lieu. Stock options will not reflect on your T4 until you excise them. But even as someone who's husband has never sold a share...yet...and never had any stock options to worry about. :( Next year

He still had made more than what the pay scale on Airline Pilot Central said he should have made, much more. And believe me, he has not worked any overtime, except for once...I"m not allowed to answer the phone when he's home.

Just kidding! :D

Options are not in lieu of anything other than salary. Sometimes they're better than salary and sometimes they're not.
Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP) is in lieu of a pension and this is largely where the salary disparity with AC lies. You'd have to calculate how much of a pension you're gonna get after your glorious AC career and add it to your salary to get a truer comparison. That is to say if there is any pension left after the next bankruptcy. (That one's for you tony. Discuss.)

You'll also need to figure in the superior AC benefits to the comparison as WestJet's provider Sunlife sucks.

Thirdly, AC pilots have much different working conditions ie. collective ageement than we do. Better? No. Worse? No. Just different so kudos for asking questions.

FO:
year one: 40
year two: 50
year three: 78
year four: 83
year five: 85...

-ESP 0-20%
-Stock options vary from 25-100 percent (most do the 25, above numbers based on this)
