I've been told that Canadair has a published procedure for starting the Challenger/CRJ series aircraft using that method.Colonel Sanders wrote:...you could start one

I'm sure TC wouldn't like that, so don't do it.

Looks safe.

It's called a buddy start and isn't like what the dear Col. stated.GyvAir wrote: I've been told that Canadair has a published procedure for starting the Challenger/CRJ series aircraft using that method.
It involves a typical (and extra-long) air-start hose with two couplings and a funky fork that allows bleed air to flow from the "donor" aircraft to the dead one. Same procedure works with lots of aircraft.
I'd bet you'd some pretty high temps though starting the ol' 'buddy-Sabre' way!

Nestling right up behind another CRJ that's pulling a bunch of power sounds a lot more interesting though... especially if there are passengers on board. Hooking them up with approved bleed air air-start hoses sounds rather proper and civilized. Hardly cheating at all.

Getting way off topic here, but ...
Buddy start was an approved procedure on the C-130 if your starter was shot. Likely still is.
