Hi All
I have a question about border crossing, ill try and include the basic information then ask the question.
Canadian citizens/pilots
PIC is a PPL holder
Flying in a Canadian registered aircraft, renting from club.
Departed Canada and cleared customs in US
few days later returning to Canada,
When leaving the USA filed flight plan, called CBP with information/eta, filing eAPAIS departure notice, don't find current departing airport in the eAPIS database, "error".
Do you have to be at a specific(eAPIS departure database) airport when departing the USA leaving to another country to file an eAPIS departure?
Thank you

Re: Flying Border crossing USA -> Canada. eAPIS
You list the nearest customs airport as your departure airport and put the actual location (airport code, address, map reference) in the description section.
That's all described in the EAPIS FAQ.

DId you hear the one about the jurisprudence fetishist? He got off on a technicality.

Leaving the United States – Do I have to depart from a CBP airport?
The short answer is, “no”. Private aircraft may depart from any US port or place. Within eAPIS, you can get more information about this situation by clicking on the field help associated with the departure airport field.
It says, “Enter the ICAO airport code corresponding to the last domestic port of departure. For a complete list of airport codes select the Options button to the right of the field. If the airport code is not found, choose the airport code closest to your departure site. If you’re not leaving from the airport location, enter details of departure location below.”
Within eAPIS, the “Airport” field is used to assign the departure manifest to the correct CBP airport of departure, and the “Departure Location Description” field is the port or place from where you actually depart.
