Foreflight sharing
A couple of us were talking today about buying a Foreflight subscription. We noticed you can use one subscription on 2 ipads. That has us wondering if 2 pilots could share one subscription? If we were to create a company Apple ID and then use that on our iPads, would that work.
The Foreflight website warns against sharing usernames and passwords so obviously they don't want this to happen. But as low time pilots we are trying to save some cash.
Anyone try to share Foreflight between two iPads/two pilots?
Thanks

Re: Foreflight sharing
I use foreflight on more than one device on my personal account. I use the second device as a back up...great tool for recreational flying.

Re: Foreflight sharing
Should work... I know a few guys who use the same subscription to run two iPads simultaneously every flight.
Re: Foreflight sharing
i use same account on my ipad and iphone. works fine.
Re: Foreflight sharing
Interesting. I was actually informed we'd get billed for another subscription if I installed a copy on a second device.
Re: Foreflight sharing
from the Foreflight website:
How many devices can I use my subscription on?
The 1-Pilot subscription allows you to use ForeFlight Mobile on 1-iPad, 1-iPhone, and 1-iPod Touch, simultaneously. A second iPad is allowed as a backup device (total 2-iPads). The "2-iPads" can be any mix of the iPad Mini or the full-size iPad. All devices are to be used by the same pilot.

DId you hear the one about the jurisprudence fetishist? He got off on a technicality.
Re: Foreflight sharing
I contacted Foreflight and asked whether its possible for a pilot to use his own personal subscription on his iPad and then sign in on his copilot's iPad for a flight in which both pilots are carrying iPads. They said that yes, that would be permissible, but to use my own judgement on how the copilot used the app afterwards. Basically they didn't want to say that its possible to share, but also tried to warn me that they do not take kindly to sharing.
I don't think it's reasonable to expect a person to own 2 iPads and have one as a backup.
It seems you can share the app subscription but I wouldn't be surprised if they could possible find out you were sharing and cancel your account.

Re: Foreflight sharing
Our company uses foreflight, we have around 5 subscriptions, which are active on multiple iPads. We've had no issues using all the licenses on separate machines.
Re: Foreflight sharing
I think it is very reasonable. I have 2 ipad mini's (one as backup), as well as my phone, and the kids old ipod.bigEh wrote:I don't think it's reasonable to expect a person to own 2 iPads and have one as a backup.
I think its a good idea to share with someone until you see what foreflight can do for you. Once you see it's capabilities, I am sure you will conceed that it is worth the money. for me it's an hour's worth of avgas per year for the subscription...

Re: Foreflight sharing
I might get shouted at for going off topic, but whatever...
Why not use FltPlan Go? It's about 70% as nice as Foreflight and its free! Problem solved! Next!wondering? wrote:But as low time pilots we are trying to save some cash.

GTK. Foreflight is setup to renew automatically, I had the nice surprise of 170$ charged on my credit card.
