It mentions on the bottom of their add that they want you to quote "PC12 Pilot Pool", so I would assume it is for a pool.

For pay, I heard they pay above average for PC12 pilots. That was third party info.

Very good gig from what I hear, as long you're not chasing the big iron..not the best job for time building.

They used to hire people with 500hrs for f/o, not sure if that's true today though.

Not firm. I know of people right now getting in with a bit less, but not much.

Were you there on the YPM ramp when those airplanes arrived? Did you see who else was on the ramp and where they were parked when those other airplanes arrived? If not, you should probably keep your opinion to yourself.

For captains on time off, is it rotations out of Sault Lookout or are you required to be there.

Don't work there but have friends that do. Rotations are 4 on 4 off. You do get called of days off but it's optional.

Anyone have any current info for Ornge?

Specifically salary, benefits, pension and obviously how the rotation works.

Thanks,

2 crew on a PC12, what exactly does the "FO" do? The plane was built from the ground up to be a single pilot ship.

They are far from the only operator to fly it with 2 crew. In fact, I know more operators who fly it 2 crew than single pilot. What exactly is your beef with having an extra set of eyes and another job in our industry?

I'm all for jobs, and I know of a few operators flying two crew as well, heck why not add a flight engineer too? That would add another job and another set of eyes. Better yet we could make Cessna 172s require a FO too.

Just seems like making a single pilot plane a multi crew plane is a little silly, sometimes having too many cooks in the kitchen spoils the stew.

Don't know a heck of a lot about the operation and service. Obviously medevac. But my guess would be its 2 crew for that reason?

My understanding is that its days. 4 days of days, 4 off, 4 nights, 4 off, repeat. 12 hour shifts. If the shift roles over the 12 hours its overtime, or the option to postpone/cancel the trip until the next crew starts depending on the nature of the call. This is all second hand information mind you.

Is Ornge even looking? The past 2 years they had tons of ads for pilots, now there doesn't seem like anything.

Much movement in the future for fixed or rotary wing?

Same can be said about a Navajo, Metro, Beech 1900. Having a second person in the cockpit is always good. Second set of eyes, confirmation on things being done etc. I'm sure fatigue management especially with Medevac operations is a huge reason as well.

Hey, all. Would anyone with experience regarding the Ornge interview process be willing to share some info? Questions and topics (IFR, HR, etc).

Thanks a lot!

reason for 2 crew is. the car's restrict single pilot ifr to max 8 flight hours. so for operational and cost efficiency. along with safety when doing mutiple 12+ hour days is the reason/ fly safe 8)
