Well folks I believe I can say that my weight gain is now staying at 240 !!! JESUS, never thought this day would come ! This will be my 4th time at my new gym and I havn't had a beer or a chicken wing since Saturday. I'm really frightened that I can't hold on much longer but I must say not as frightened as some of the people who first see me trying to wiggle out of the flightdeck...... Just look away !!!! I'm soooooooo hungry and Thirsty it's friggen crazy. I've just stopped answering the phone (Home and away). It dosn't help seeing your bud's sitting at the bar of the club when walking into the change room,,, grrrrrrrr. I'm thinking maybe weekends off then back Monday- Friday, any thoughts or clues.... please

Good god Mike go and have something to eat man. You are never going to lose weight and keep it off by starving yourself. You should be eating 3 full meals a day. It all comes down to what you eat, not how much. A couple of winter ago I lost 30 pounds in 5 months and all I did was quit eating white flour, potatoes, white sugar or anything made with these ingredients. I also gave up coffee and started working out a bit but nothing crazy. I would run or walk on a tread mill daily for a few miles. I never gave up the beer or wine. You have to continue to live!!! Start eating more fruit and raw vegetables instead of cooked ones. If you insist on cooked veggies then greens are better!! Instead of having a Chocolate Bar for an afternoon snack have an apple. Do not eat anything that is more than 10 carbs except beer of course and switch to whole grain breads and cereals and not the ones with the white sugar coating in top!!

I got all this info from a book that is titled Eat Yourself Slim and believe me it works. Good luck!!

Mike,

don't worry about it man, I too am in the 240 weight class, no problem. Yea its a tight squeeze into some smaller planes, all the more reason to fly bigger ones.

Lets put it this way, YOU CAN'T DRIVE A NAIL WITH A TACK HAMMER!

Good luck

Mike,

I've been trying to slim down a bit myself. I like my barley sandwiches and my chicken wings as well. But the thing is you can still have your treats. Its just all about moderation. I've been trying new drinks and I came across a good one. Seems a little girly but its good and it does the trick. Bacardi Razz and Water. Tastes great. I now walk daily. exercise mon- fri, drink the razz during the week, then have beer and wings on the weekend. I'm sure you will start to look and feel better within no time.

Cheers.

I agree with the moderation. If you're excercising without eating properly you're going to feel like crap and not be able to perform. Monitor your calories and try and keep it under 1500-1800 a day, if you're working out a lot you can add a little to that though.

As far as beer and wings. Go for it, just cut back on either frequency or quantity. Maybe both if you're really bad. Don't go on a beer bender either, if you're getting drunk, hard stuff is the way to go.

Switch out pop/coffee for water whenever possible, and if you get cravings or hungry between meals, have some fruit. Trick is to eat proper the rest of the time and then you can let loose with your friends. A buddy of mine also told me instead of eating until you're full, eat until you're not hungry.

At the gym, work on cardio more than weights too. Bike, run, just get your heart going for 45-75 mins. Try not to slack off either, get a buddy to work out with it makes it a lot better and when you don't feel like going, you're still obligated. Set realistic goals too. 2-3 lbs a week is about the most you should be aiming for. 240 isn't bad though, unless you're really short.

I'm reminded of an old saying, Eat well, excercise daily, die anyhow.

Try running or other cardio thats what does it for me. Check out runningroom.com they have a pretty comprehensive list of events in most provinces get out there and register for some "fun runs" or whatever. Gives me something to train for and keep motivated plus you usually get a t-shirt!
