Re: Ac medical
Blood test is not directly for alcohol. It is a liver enzyme measurement which corresponds with liver activity.theflyinghotdog wrote: ↑Sat Aug 20, 2022 2:57 pm I heard Air Canada does blood tests for medical. I do not smoke marijuana neither do I smoke vape/cigarettes.
It is the summer after all and I’ve been enjoying myself quite a bit while on my limited days off (drinking beers no hard liquor).
Usually 12 beers over a weekend sometimes 3 beers mid week with my buddies. Average 15-16 beers over a 7 day span or 2.5 a day. ( I do NOT drink everyday what so ever)
My question is, if I were to stop drinking beer two weeks before the medical will that be enough to not have issues with blood work or would you all recommend I just lay off for a few more weeks before.
I heard they do a drug test a full cat 1 medical and blood work. I complete a cat 1 every year and never have any issues.
Someone who has a high volume of regular alcohol consumption or manifestation of cirrhosis might anticipate a high liver enzyme measurement.
You would have to look on line as to the trigger volume or reduction period.
Re: Ac medical
I did mine at a different airline after being very sick for a week, my liver enzymes were alarmingly bonkers. Nothing was said, but also decided to take a little break from the good stuff just for good measure.

Re: Ac medical
A family friend who is a dr said that if you quit drinking entirely a week or two prior to blood work your levels will also be fucked up in the other direction. She said don’t quit all together just cut it in half as all

I’ve heard that going cold turkey can make your liver levels look weird too, so it’s better to ease off gradually. Like, maybe cut your beers in half for a couple of weeks before the medical—that should help keep things steady without raising any red flags.
Also, if you’re looking for something to chill with besides booze, I’ve been checking out some cool glass pieces at smokeday.com. Just a thought if you’re trying to switch things up a bit while keeping it chill.
