I heard today from a reliable source that TK AIR has been unfortunately shut down. Does anyone know anymore about what is going on with these guys? Will there be any 703 operators left by next year .
Who picked up their interior work with the bag runs?
Hopefully it is temporary and they get back on their feet....
Hmmmm... Let's see now. In the past 12 months B.C. companies who've gone under (for one reason or another) while chasing these cheapskate, low-ball courier bag-runs: Navair, Sonic/Regency/NVA, and now TK. Sure hope Carson knows what they're doing and negotiates a REASONABLE rate from these companies.

TC are all over the south ramp and its more and more becoming a case of comply or get shut down. Nonetheless its a tragic shame that we had to pay such a high price to get to this slowly improving situation.
The dynamics now are fairly straight forward. Compliance = no cutting corners on maintenance training, etc = better maintained machines = higher costs = courier companies having to pay more. Anybody who cuts corners now gets canned.
Its that simple. Why on earth wasn't it like this from the get go?

Did you not fly for a couple of these operators and see it first hand?
Was it really that bad?
Is the situation improving now that TC is around more?

Anybody who has ever flown out of the south side knows the history involved with some of the operators who have been based there, so yes I did see "first hand experience"
The rest of your questions I think you can answer yourself. Would you care to identify yourself (perhaps through a PM?) seeing as you seem to know all about me?
An observation:
All these operators sold PPC's (maybe not navair but they didn't take you without one ever) , and they are the ones with the crappiest planes/pay/mtc etc.
It's weird you think that they would be making extra money on training yet they aren't?!
I don't think TK were underbidding the routes, but then again i am not sure. I don't think the bank bag companies care about the lowest bidder because they don't want to be associated with plane crashes, they rather the bags get there safe and with some consistancy.
Looks like a few runs are up for.. i don't know if Carson will do them all in the metro unless it was making money?
Who knows.
TK has been having a tough time for awhile and after Hawk terminated their agreement it got even tougher. Having said that, just about every carrier I can think of who takes over the bag run implodes sooner rather then later. Just no money in it. The banks are rolling in cash for a reason. It's too bad.

Wow, that sucks. I started at TK, and learned lots of valuable stuff. I did not pay for my PPC, and did not sign a bond. And no, I did not work for free either. Hope it all works out.
Yeah thats too bad. I worked for Trev 3 years ago he got me started and made me who I am today. He never asked me to pay for a PPC or work for free like other companies out there. Hes the kind of guy that if you help him out he'll help you out and make it worth your while. Yeah the money wasn't that good but which company hires 250hour wonders and pays them big bucks everyone has to start somewhere. I guess he just had too much riding on his houlders between Hawkair and TK air..........We'll Trev my next beer is for you.
