Let me get this straight: Transport has a hissy shitfit when I do a loop or roll but has no problem when some demented lunatic wants to do a supersonic skydive from 25 miles up, headed in the general direction of Saskatchewan?

Hedley, I mean this in the nicest way possible. Get over it. We get that you don't like Transport. We get that you think they're out to get you. Seriously, man, we get it.Hedley wrote:http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13842223/

You contribute a lot to the forums with your knowledge and experience, and it's appreciated... but nobody really likes Transport a whole lot, so you're preaching to the choir. Enough already.

Good advice, I suppose. Reminds me of last weekend. We were doing an airshow at Geneseo, NY.Get over it.
I might mention that we only fly airshows outside of Canada, because Transport has forbidden our team to ever fly another airshow in Canada, ever again. They sent us a letter saying that it is "not in the public interest" for us to ever fly another airshow in Canada, ever again.
Should I get over that anytime soon, Guido?
Anyways, I meet the usual guys at Geneseo. Rick flies a Sukhoi. Rob flies an Ultimate Pitts. Saturday evening, Rob's girlfriend Melissa flies in, in her Zivko Edge.
You probably don't know what a Zivko Edge is, but that's ok. They don't know who the hell you are, either, and don't care.
Anyways, out of the Zivko bounces Melissa. She's 22 years old, very cute, and really doesn't like to wear much clothing when it's hot - just a bikini.
And what a nice girl. After a while, talking to her, turns out that the FAA yanked her licence for 6 months last year for "unauthorized" low altitude acro, and they're taking another run at her this year, because someone said her rate of roll was too high in the turn after a takeoff.
The facts don't matter, but she is an awesome pilot. She flew in the airshow Sunday and holy christmas, she can fly that Zivko.
Of course, because she's young, and rich, and talented, the bureaucrats who are anything but, hate and envy her, and try to cut her down as much as they can. Sound familiar?
Message to bureaucrats: @#$! off. Get a life. Get some therapy. Talk to a psychologist. Try to heal your twisted, ugly little personalities that so envy and hate those that are so much more successful than you are.

Well.....maybe if you hadn't made a habit of flying low level over bird sanctuaries and residential areas you wouldn't have drawn fire from TC. But don't worry about it, you are obviously so rich, smart and generally superior that you can just buy your own country (I hear there are several for sale in Central America) and make up what ever rules you want.

If you're on the west coast, I might suggest travelling south for serious acro. I might suggest Attitude Aviation in Livermore, California, just east of San Francisco:
http://www.attitudeaviation.com/aircraft.htm
They have an Extra 200 and a Pitts S-2C.
Just south of that, in Salinas, is Sean Tucker's school:

If you like LA:
http://www.sunriseaviation.com/aerobatic-courses.html
On the east coast, I might suggest, in Nashua, NH:
http://www.aerial-advantage.com/
I shouldn't really dignify this idiocy with a response, but:

What in the world are you talking about? Even Transport, in all their bizarre and demented attacks, has never alleged anything so idiotic, untrue and irrelevant.if you hadn't made a habit of flying low level over bird sanctuaries and residential areas you wouldn't have drawn fire

well...I've seen everything now.
Guido getting 'snippy' at someone here?!
hmmm....

OK, so she got suspended for doing unauthorized low level aerobatics......yeah i am crying for her.....could it be she was stupid enough to fly low over someones neighbourhood or something? There are rules in place for the safety of the public too you know, and not only rich folk but poor people too...what, i know those slumming bastards.
As for you not being allowed at airshows it is sad, you do have a nice plane....but i am guessing there is a story behind that one too. I am thinking though that if i were to say fly low in a beechcraft, over a bird sanctuary, or something i might get written up to.......once again i'll pose to you, Hedley, why not use your money for good and get the required permits and things to do low level aero's at your home airport? get transport to set up something for you..... Or just move to the states, you'd likely fit in better there. btw i love flying in just my thong!

You're probably right - and I don't take that as an insult (though I suspect it was intended that way), I can only take that as a compliment - I have many fine American friends. Good people, superb pilots.Or just move to the states, you'd likely fit in better there
Transport doesn't exactly try to keep it a secret that they attempted (and succeeded) in driving Jason Newburg, a superb aerobatic pilot and mechanic, out of Canada. They make it pretty clear they want us gone, too.
Not sure where in the Aeronautic Act that Transport is empowered to disenfranchise citizens, but Transport doesn't pay much attention to it anyhow, unless it suits their purposes.
Recently I had a Transport Canada Inspector tell me that he didn't have to obey regulations. Quote: "There are greater issues at stake here".
Yeah, like a complete lack of professionalism. Makes me feel great about all the tax dollars I pay

I know a guy, works at 4900 Yonge St for Transport. He told me in confidence that Transport's latest bizarre move was "motivated by anger towards you".
Why should I not believe him?
Hedley, why don't you get into competition aerobatics? You must understand that TC knows that airshow aerobatics are much more dangerous than competitions, and are therefore much more likely to clamp down on airshow pilots.
There are a few competitions in Canada, but are tons in the midwest US, so you wouldn't have much problem finding one, and it sounds as if you are willing to travel.
You claim to be highly skilled, and with competition you have a chance to prove it. Not as "daring" as low-level airshow flying, but much more demanding and precise.

I think the Heddster is pissed that he can't do a roll or loop that he's done legally a few hundred times in his own country because of TC, and a dude from France is gonna create a sonic boom (which is illegal in Saskatchewan, last I checked) with TC's blessing.
I'd be pissed too!

I whish I could offer all this to my daughters and I'm not even including flyingMelissa’s other activities include skydiving (freefly and wingsuit), B.A.S.E. jumping, snow boarding, skiing, scuba diving, dredging for gold, running marathons, biking, photography, drawing and painting.

I wasn't insulting you hedley,,,,,,Americans are more capitalistic then canadians, so you would probably get along better there.....they tend to approve more of the buying your way out of things......i mean its your attitude, be roud of it at least.......i just disagree with that sort of lifestyle.....i am a socialist.
But seriously if you're really keen about raising awareness of aerobatics in Canada then stop blaming TC and get it done. Its easy to point a finger but back it up with actions......those of us who can't, due to finances, would appreciate it.

Hedley, I'm a little confused?? Any chance you could post the rudiments of your hassle with TC, please? or at least provide a link where I could look it up for myself?
Say, what's that mountain goat doing up here in the mist?
