I need to choose between Voyageur, Thunder, Wasaya and Bear!
Hi,
I passed severals interviews in the last 2 weeks. Now, I need too choose between these guys. Without to write me a long historic about these companies, I'm wondering me which one to choose without any objections.
Thanks in advance

Vladimitch...
If given those options, I'd take Bearskin in a heartbeat. Tier III, no pager, no northern flying strictly pavement to pavement.......along with that a great schedule, and fairly decent pay on good equipment. Just my opinion though.

You start with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.

Good for you...I was in a similar position just not all at the same time...
If you dont mind YQT and if you have another half and she is 'honestly' ok with coming to YQT with you....no brainer The Bear.....better money...no pager!!!...good sched....able to have a normal life...its an airline..which means after a couple years you can make a run at the majors (if that is what you want to do)oh and not to mention the ac passes.. down side...long wait for the left seat....but that is because guys dont leave....and that insane unwarranted 10k up front bond...
my 2 cents..

Well Bearskin and Wasaya are both Scheduled with bearskin doing pavement only but both as for as I know are requiring 10k. Both will fly around 900 hours a year.
Thunder, promisary note for 1 year fly around diverse places(one minute at yyz next minute up in ytl). However on a pager, on the king air pager hardly goes off, mu2 in yqt pager will go off maybe twice in 10 days as most is prebooked, yts mu2, pager everyday. On average 700-800 hours per year.
Voyaguer, depending on what it is. 8K I believe, again on pager, fly around 500-600 hours a year. Based yxl same northern runs all the time, dash 8/7. You'd be dumb not to take them, least I know I would
All in all I found thunder to meet everything that I wanted, upgrade quick, awesome aircraft and not to bada pay.
The only thing I don't like on the bear is money up front other than that its all good

As a long serving Fuel Jockey in YQT i have gotten to know many pilots for all of the above....The Bear seems to have the longest wait for a left seat.....Wasaya seems to be pretty good...lots of hours but still seems to be a long wait for lefty.....the quickest route i've noticed is definetly Thunder....lately pilots have been upgraded extremely quick, and many have moved on to the big boys, Canjet and Jazz. i understand that this wont last forever but i've been workin here for 8 years and it always seems that the pilots from Thunder are the ones moving on to bigger and better things. Their Timmons base seems to be doing pretty good these days. Bearskin is always a plus for the sched. dont know to much about voyageur but most guys seem content, from my point of view Thunder seems to be the Ticket....Medivac flyin...charter...King air, Mu2, caravan....
I'm kinda curious where some of the guys ended up.....Bede well i see all the time sittin in his RJ, where'd Peter and mike end up? Canjet the last i heard...send me a PM if your around. Oh ya....FlyinLow....where are you hiding?

Lets see Thunder from the email package they sent me was a joke of a company, Voyaguer, havent heard good things and there bond is shit, Wasaya cant say too much about them except there native owned and run, and Bearskin is a good company, but u gotta pay 10 000 to fly a metro, lets think about that.

The Bear for sure. It is a 704 airline job with great travel benefits. Kevin Beddome is a great guy to work for and you will be treated with respect by both co-workers and the flying public. The metroliner is a great airplane as far as being a challenge to fly. No pager going off at 2 am and you are represented by the most professional pilot union on the globe, ALPA.
Fly the bear!

Thats funny, everyone here seems to love there jobs and in no way feels that it is a joke of a company. It appears to me that most guys that get turned down from here are the ones that are bashing it. Of all guys on this site sulako is the one that can put everything into prospective the best if you read his thunder threads you will see185/310 wrote:Lets see Thunder from the email package they sent me was a joke of a company,

The only one I can speak for first hand is Thunder. I spent a year and a half (one year as Captain) there flying the MU-2 out of YQT and enjoyed my time considerably. I averaged about 900 hours a year (75/month) which was a good pace...not too busy and not bored to death. Got paged out a few times at odd hours but not very often, most flights were scheduled the day before (this applies more to the YQT base...the YTS pilots use to get calls at all hours).
AEROMONKEY...I'm now at Jazz. Just finishing up my sim training on the CRJ in the next few days. My base is YYZ but I'm planning on commuting out of YQT. Hopefully see ya around!

Choices
Stay away from Voyageur! None of the guys that I know that work there are happy. Good benefits, safe equipment, good training. But, lowsy pay, uncertain schedule, not the best flying hours and once they get your bond, they do whatever they want with you! And that is not always in your benefit! Save yourself the hassle!

I have worked at two of the companies that you are contemplating. Go with the Bear. Wasaya is a good company, but, the upgrade time is really long and it seems as though the compnay would rather hire from outside than upgrade from within. If you go captain on the pilatus or 1900 fo, you are going to put up a bong to. 10,000 (if I remember correctly) for the 12 or Caravan or 12,500 for the 1900 or Hawker.
At the Bear you are represented by ALPA, earn a very respectable living, have a good schedule, lots of time off and fly alot.
People are logging about 1000 hours per year and upgrades are happening in about a year. The last few upgrades went to people who were on the machine just over a year and the next will probably be someone who has been with the company for less than a year.
Had a roommate who worked for Voyaguer, hated the schedule and the pay.
I have no real knowledge of Thunder.
Hope it helps.
